On cask at the Marble Arch. Pours a very dark brown colour with a decent, light tan head. Aroma of chocolate, coffee and caramel. Similar flavours with choc milk upfront and roasty malt. Nice and bitter with lingering chocolate. Moderate carbonation and an oily mouth-feel. Very nice.

3.1 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 dreadnord (994) - San Diego, California, USA - JAN 13, 2012
Pours thick and black. Huge off white head. Nose is hoppy and coffee. I’m not getting any chocolate as the name implies. Maybe it’s to young and the hips is overwhelming it. Flavor transitions from bitter to sweet. Mouthfeel is a bit to sharp as well. I’d like a bit more creaminess from a beer that boasts chocolate.

Black, but seemingly clear. Small frothy head. Quite low on aroma. Dry, dusty cacao but not much more. Some dryness, whole fat milk. But to thin maybe. Tasty, not as sessionable as expected.

Bottle from Kris Wines. Pours black, opaque, huge huge foaming off white head. Nose is citrous hop fruity, lemon, and lime zest. In the background there’s chocolate and ale notes. Taste is roasted malt, minerally stout notes, dark chocolate, and quite a bit of bitter citrous hops. Finish is lingering citrous hop, coffee and roasted malt bitterness.
