Bottle from Kris Wines. Pours black, opaque, huge huge foaming off white head. Nose is citrous hop fruity, lemon, and lime zest. In the background there’s chocolate and ale notes. Taste is roasted malt, minerally stout notes, dark chocolate, and quite a bit of bitter citrous hops. Finish is lingering citrous hop, coffee and roasted malt bitterness.

ruby black, fluffy off-white head. Hedgerow fruit nose and bramling cross blackcurrant flavour with a hint of compost. Long roast barley finish. Sprightly carbonation. Not much sign of chocolate.

Gravity cask @ In De wildeman. Almost black color, no head. Aroma’s of fruit, cocoa, raisin, roast. Flavor is slightly sweet, chocolate, upcoming bitterness. Very little carbonation. Finishes dry and rather bitter with hints of cocoa.

diabel (1607) - Aarschot, BELGIUM - NOV 13, 2011
Deep black body. Lightly brown, creamy head. Aroma of roasted malts, chocolate with a smokey and winy touch. Flavour of malts and hops: heavily bitter, lightly sweet. Very interesting. I think this is one of the first beers I had that combine chocolate malts and hops as well as this one. Very nice.

Martinus (2798) - Nijmegen, NETHERLANDS - OCT 16, 2011
Creamy black colour (opaque is the word I believe), small cream head. Malty aroma, chocolate, roasted malts, coffee. Rather dry and creamy, light carbonation. Flavour quite bitter chocolate, vanilla, rather light, where are the roasted malts so prominent in the aroma?
(Draught -gravity- @ Borefts ’11)

Sampled at Borefts Beer Festival @ De Molen, Bodegraven. Pitch black, opaque color. Small off-white head. Smell coffee, roasty, bitter, chocolate. Taste coffee, not much roastyness, bitter and chocolate. Low carbonation, low body.

Draft @ Borefts Festival 2011, Bodegraven NL. Pitch black, opague with a small, chunky off-white head. Smells chocolate, roasty and vanilla. Tastes chocolate, coffee, roasty, vanilla, reminds me of guinness, but this has more taste. No carbo, full body.

Dedollewaitor (13803) - Odense, DENMARK - SEP 27, 2011
Draught @ Borefts Beer Festival, 2011. Pours black with small bubbles on top. Chocolate, fruit and vague roast. Smooth and dry. Well made and pleasant!

GothGargoyle (1159) - Vancouver, British Columbia, CANADA - SEP 25, 2011
On tap @ Borefts 2011. Dark cloudy brown with no head. Aroma is chocolate pudding with a subtle hint of coffee. Very thin on the palate with very little flavour. Some taste of chocolate and mocha. Somewhat disappointing.

The brewery was calling this a stout at the fest. And it was on cask. Dark brown, can see right through it. Not very stoutish. Flat, no head, no lacing. Roasted aroma with cabbage and cream corn. Tastes the same. Not very good.
