Bottle from the brewery webshop. It pours a dark brown color with a medium tan head. Aroma is roasted malts, coffee, licorice and dark chocolate, overlayed by pine cones and wild berries. Taste is medium bitter roasty and medium tart fruity. Notes of black berries and red currants, pine cones, coffee, dark chocolate and roasted wood. Medium body with good carbonation. Overall, good porter

Marstonlad (474) - Helsinki, FINLAND - DEC 4, 2014
On tap at the Marble Arch, Manchester. A black color and a medium-sized dense head. The aroma features roasty chocolaty notes, as expected; malty notes dominate. Taste is sweetish with soft, round maltiness emphasizing chocolate. The palate is barely medium-bodied but velvety in texture with a flat to average carbonation. Decent, if a bit basic chocolate stout.

Bottle@aibf14. Dark brown. Roasty malty, dark chocolate, some woodyness on nose. Light bodied, but quite nicely flavourful. Brown malty, dry finish. Surprisingly good.

September 5, 2014 at The Southampton Arms (visit #1) - handpull. Clear deep brick red with a smallish lasting mottled tan foamy head. "hmm ... hmm ... hmm ..." - smells and tastes like a chocolate/light coffee mild - not a ton of body, but plenty of taste - more baker’s chocolate than Nestles - and a surprising amount of grassiness once you adjust to the chocolate presence - and hardly any alcohol on the nose either. Thinnish and still mouthfeel, and the bitterness does build past the finish - still plenty of cocoa in there at the end - easy to drink, but not amazing.

Cask at the green Berry deal, Kent. Aroma is rich chocolate liquor, with earthy berry hop and some alcohol. Flavour is nutty choc, slightly rich with touch of coffee and hedgerow hop. Palate is medium full and good cask condition. Tasty beer.

brianza_ale (144) - ITALY - JUL 2, 2014
50 cl bottle in Teku. Pours a small off-white/beige thick head; dark brown to black colour. Nice roasty, smoked wood, dark chocolate, and coffee aroma. Tastes roasted malts, cocoa and licorice. Light bitter and coffee long afterstaste. Almost lively carbonation, light to medium bodied, very drinkable. Flavours are not at the same level of aromas, would expected something tastier and more punchy
