On gravity at the Boreft Beer Festival, 2011. A pitch black beer with lots of chocolate aroma and flavours. Alcohol is quite present with a long linger and a nice chewy mouth-feel.

Dark brown pour with a tan head. Acidic aroma with roast and coffee notes. Slightly tart flavor, creamy at first. A bit sweet. Notes of coffee and roasted malt. Fades to a very bitter hoppy finish.

330mL. Poured a deep black to near ink with a thinner, tan, coffee head. Nose is savory, salty, black olive, fatty meat. Taste is dirty, bitter, ashy chalky, tea astringent. Lighter mouthfeel. It sounds bad, but I actually enjoyed this one. Very evident hoppy bitterness, earthy, pretty clean. No olive, brine, or saltiness.

Big boozy, sweet chocolate nose with lots of molasses. The taste is moderately sweet, lightly bitter, dark chocolate, molasses and prune juice. Astringent and ashy.

Bottle at tasting. Black to brown pour with a thin tan head. Aroma of roasted malt, burnt malt, chocolate, coffee and licorice. Flavor is bitter and burnt and with a broad spectrum of flavors. Slightly watery texture. Nice brew.
