Bottle shared at The Kernel during Mario’s leaving time. Pours black with a creamy, beige head. Light tangy dark malt nose with smoke and charcoal highlights. Medium to big sweet flavor with notes of ash, smoke, tobacco, some dark chocolate, grass and earth. Some dark fruits and light licorice, too. Full bodied with fine carbonation. Mild warming finish with sticky dark sugar, charred malts, tar, coal, light tang, burnt grass, mild hard alcohol. Dries out nicely in the finish. Good stuff.

Bottle… Thinkin’ ‘Bout Thirteen Hours O’ Drinkin’ (tew man wrecking crew)This beer rocks!… Midnight black ale with a frothy, brown head. Excellent retention. Fruity, chocolaty aroma. Notes of blueberry or blackberry. Medium to full-bodied with a 2%-milk mouthfeel. Bitter, burnt and acidic. Charcoal and tart berries. Mostly burnt and bitter finish with plenty of tartness thrown in. Huge THANKS to Magic_dave6 for shipping this beauty across the pond!

Bottle, Opened and consumed at Merton Summer BF 2008 - big thanks to Mes. A beautiful looking beer; black with a frothy coffee coloured head. The aroma has chocolate, fruit, light roast and a hint of sourness. Full bodied in the mouth with lots of roasted malts. Caramel, chocolalte and fruit, and maybe a little too much soy sauce. Quite heavy but very enjoyable.

330mL. Poured a deep black to near ink with a thinner, tan, coffee head. Nose is savory, salty, black olive, fatty meat. Taste is dirty, bitter, ashy chalky, tea astringent. Lighter mouthfeel. It sounds bad, but I actually enjoyed this one. Very evident hoppy bitterness, earthy, pretty clean. No olive, brine, or saltiness.

Bottle. Pours dark brown with tan head. Nose and taste of roast chocolate malt, cocoa, vanilla, dark fruits, slight sherry oxidation and coffee roast. Touch of molasses. Medium body. Well balanced. Subtle oxidation actually plays well with this.
