Draft at Santa Fe taproom. Hazy golden body. Fizzy white head, rapidly diminishing. Aroma of resin, grapefruit, citrus and grain. The flavor is moderately sweet and moderately bitter. It finishes lightly sweet and moderately to heavily bitter. Long bitter finish. Medium to full body, velvety texture, moderate carbonation. Too bad the bitterness masks whatever else might be in this beer. So not near as flavorful as DIPAs like Dreadnaught. Actually liked Marbleís IPA better.

Orange-gold in color with a white head. Strong pine-hop aroma which translates through to the taste.

Might be an old bottle, very pine forward and had a very similar taste that was rather rough.

Bomber pours a bright orange with a frothy, sticky head. Definitely an accurate description on the label. This brew is quite juicy. Nice citrus aroma and flavor, balanced with a sweetness in the finish. A touch oxidized, but still solid.

22oz bottle poured into a Snifter at 40į. Color is a bright gold with a slight haze, good carbonation and a big rocky head. Aroma is a big citrus scent that seems to have a fruity sweetness. It has a lighter medium body with a crisp mouth feel. Flavor is heavy citrus and pinesap with a sharp bitterness that lingers in the after taste. Overall its just too much citrus and nothing else.

Bottle. Poured pale with a creamy off-white head that left good lacing. Aroma of malt and resin hop with a slight hint of grain. The flavor found floral and resin hops with a light malt backing. Medium body and a medium bitterness.

Botte in Santa Fe.

I like the happy discoveries one makes when sampling new beers from new regions. Somehow the fun is enough in the exploration that a 90-th percentile gem makes up for slogging through a half-dozen beers in the lower half of the distribution.

This is the gem that has made worthwhile my otherwise disappointing exploratory efforts this week in Santa Fe. Itís not a world beater --- the Sculpin and the BigEye PA that I had last week in Santa Barbara are better --- but itís darn good and markedly better than the average new experiment on the Seattle grocery shelves. So Iím delighted, here in my hotel room, to marvel at the over-the-top (in a good way) candied grapefruit aroma of this beer. Iím enjoying the juicy tropical flavors, the well-rounded bitter finish, the laid back malts, the thinner-than-8% mouthfeel, and doggone it, the 22 oz are gone long before Iím ready to say farewell.
