3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Bottle - hazy amber colour with huge white head. Aroma of hops, light fruit, spices. Flavours are quite well balanced, some alcohol, could be more refined. Medium bodied, quite highly carbonated. Long and late bitter finish. Not bad

3.8 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle @ Sergio’s. Clear light amber with an overabundant billowy head that doesn’t give up, and lumpy clumps of lace. Taste is solid malt with a clean, clear, light hop presence that shares well. Very well balanced, not a single aspect out of place, highly drinkable. A superb light IPA.

4.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
Tasted from large brown pint bottle into a nonic Imperial pint glass, just the way God intended it. It poured a nice orange-amber colour with some chill and yeast haze, everlasting white foam and lots of sticky Belgian lace. Lovely appearance benefiting from skillful bottle conditioning with primary yeast (ahem, yeast rustlers: this is the coveted historic Gales strain.) Aromas of grain and grapefruit, orange marmalade, earthy, cedar chips, exquisite fruity esters. So very alive, it’s difficult to describe. Bitter but not overwhelmingly so, thanks to a measured caramelly underlying malt sweetness. Loads of fruity flavours from the hops and ale yeast. Citrus, melons, dried apricots, Italian lemon soda, pine resin, green grapes. Medium body and carbonation, well-rounded bready mouthfeel, lingering complex aftertastes. A perfect combination of refreshing, filling, and warming. Simply a beautiful beer, one of the best I’ve had in awhile, which is saying a lot. Welcome to the USA…here’s hoping the price comes down!

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Coarse white head. Slightly hazy deep yellow body. Light floral grape and citrus aroma with Earl Grey notes. Dry-sweet grape, resin, and bergamot taste with dusty strawy notes. Mid-bodied. Mild, soft, flat mouthfeel. Dryish-bitter floral dandelion aftertaste with grape, spice and wood notes. The finish is a bit harsh, but it’s still a great beer.
