500ml bottle generously shared by Rune@Marble Arch Inn 5.Jul.2012
Dark brown body. Yeast, sour dough, cumin and kefir aroma. Tastes of barley. Reminds me of russian porrige, prunes, plum with a hint of cherry. May be some anise in there as well?

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle from Beers of Europe, King’s Lynn
Hazy brown color, small head. Some nice hop finds its way through dusty dark malts and chocolate; aroma. Good body strength, good dusty chocolate flavor, with citrusy hops and maybe a bit too much yeast.
Good and original, to me.

4.3 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Bottle from The Offie, Leicester and drinked in honour of Marble Tim, and in remembrance of my Uncle John. This is a really interesting beer. It smells both hoppy, and like a Barley Wine. It tastes initially sweet, with some fresh hop, which then gives way to dark malt, then to alcohol warmth and some floral aftertaste. Full of nuances. A little thin in body, but plenty of flavour. A really good UK experiment which tips hat to German greatness.

3.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle from Kris Wines. Dark caramel colour with an initial bubbly carbonation and thickish white head. Weird beer this, defies classification. Some sour, tart almost lambic notes, dark malty base, some warming booze, very small hint of dunkelweizenbock fruity spice. Not sure it entirely worked but very complex and lots going on, very enjoyable.

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
500ml bottle. Clear dark brown colour with average, firm, frothy to creamy, minimally lacing, off-white head. Slightly grassy, relative intensely yeasty aroma, reminding of a Saison, hard to discover dark malty notes. Complex taste has a minimally sweet, dark malty basis, slightly grassy, wheaty and yeasty overtones, lasting dry finish with hints of grass and leather. Kinda really unique, too dark for a Saison though somewhat near in aroma and taste, too less malty for a Dunkler Bock, too less wheaty for a typical Weizen of any kind. In the end not bad, but also not really awe-inspiring.

2.7 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 10/20
500ml bottle at the brewpub, shared with Elisabeth and Stefan. Dark brown pour, patches at the surface. Sediments to the last pour. Dark fruity aroma. Flavoured with red oranges, dark malts and dark spices. Rather tart on the swallow. Unusual for a German dunkler bock. Just alright, if not convincing (Manchester, 05.07.2012).
