Bottled. A hazy dark amber beer with a beige head. The aroma has notes of malt, caramel, and citrusy hops. The flavor is sweet with notes of malt, citrusy hops, over ripe fruits, and caramel, leading to a bitter finish. Not to style.

Bottle, 50 cl, at Papsø’s. Dark amber with a small beige aroma. very special aroma for a Dunkel: Tart, phenollic and rather subdued malts. Some yeast. Taste is sweet and tart, some caramel, crisp yet oily, with an alcoholic finish - not bad but a Dunkler Bock?

Papsoe (25129) - Frederiksberg, DENMARK - JUN 27, 2012
Bottle 50 cl. Courtesy of madmitch76. Pours a clear dark amber with a creamy off-white head. Caramellish yet tart aroma, yeasty and phenollic. Medium body, nutty and caramellish, yeasty and woody with a Sherry touch. And again rather tart in the finish. Subdued finish. Odd yet interesting - and not true to ANY style really. 270612

Bottle from the House of Trembling Madness, York. Pours a murky brown, finger of head. Aroma is great - perfume, cherry, some banana and wheat. Taste is similar, and brilliant, with some pineapple thrown in as well. Full body, fairly long finish. Ooh yes, this is good.

Bottle from House of Trembling Madness. Hazy, muddy brown pour with a thin white head. Inviting aroma of cherry, pineapple, slight banana, wheat characteristics. Nice rich pineapple front, chewy roast malts, creamy wheat characteristics, rounded juicy bitter finish. Fantastically complex.

In bottle at home. Pours a very dark red - brown colour with a decent light tan head. Aroma of pineapple and grapefruit before yeast and roasty malt kick in. Alcohol is fairly present upfront with a nice bitter, grapefruit and mango flavour coming through. Finishes with a little burnt toast and roasty malt. Moderate carbonation with lingering liquorice and alcohol. Very nice.
