500 ml bottle kindly shared by gunnar. Clear chestnut with a creamy light brown film leaving excellent lacing. Nose rich with dry hops and dried fruits. Inviting. Sweet, fruity, toasted and a balanced bitterness. Gentle alco warmth and a medium to full body. Smooth to drink with a light syrupy texture. Nice one!

Bottle at local tasting, kindly shared by gunnar. Dark brown colour, moderate off-white head. Pleasant aroma of fruity hops. Hoppy flavour, fruity and resinous notes. Some alcohol in the finish. Has not much in common with a German dunkel, nor dunkelweizen / weizenbock, but this is a good beer all the same.

Bottle at home ... short lived head ...now barest lacing ...dark toffee roast ... some cherry nose ... quite fizzy ... huge huge pine and grapefruit hop front ... sweet toffee malt roast ... dark vine fruits ... little soapy ... more a black ipa than a dunkel ... but nice

Bottle from Mybrewerytap.com.Pours dark mahoganey with a small tanned head. Aroma is vinous,malty, grapefruity and orange. Taste is smooth, moderate sweet fruity, turns bitter towards the end. Good beer.

bottle, mybrewerytap.com. A surprisingly strong, spicy hop aroma. Beautiful rich mouthfeel and body that actually belies the high abv. Sherry, pine and hop resin flavours combine very well and there’s some late chocolate. The alcohol is subtle and hits late on, with just a small amount of heat. Excellent stuff and not what I was expecting.

Unclear medium to dark amber colour with a average, frothy, good lacing, mostly lasting, off-white head. Aroma is moderate malty, caramel, moderate to heavy hoppy, grapefruit, orange - citrus. Flavour is moderate to heavy sweet and bitter with a long duration. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft. [20111210]

This is great - the dark malts really work well with the yeast flavours. Mouthfeel is fantastic and brings everything home. Awesome

Bottle. Dark brown with red tints and a beige foam. Aromas are chocolate, roast malts and raisins with dark winter fruit. Xmas pudding with banana and melon. Yeast with cocoa shell. Flavours are toffee and chocolate with hazelnut syrup infused coffee. Cola with traces of banana and metal. Citrus with spritzy yeast and woody, melon notes. Dark chocolate and clean grapefruit bitterness on the finish. Very good.
