Between dark golden and clear red with a porous white head.
Aroma: raspberries, oak.
Taste: raspberries, wood, light tart with some apples, vanilla, not very dry, some lactose in the finish, perhaps light yoghurt. Not overly sour, tart, funky or sweet, instead pretty nicely balanced and drinkable.
Medium bodied, with above average carbonation.
I liked this quite a lot and went back for another glass.

Growler. Courtesy of Gabe, thanks for sending! Pours a clear reddish pink color with a slightly off white head. The aroma is tart raspberry with a mild lemon sourness. The taste is a not overly sweet or tart raspberry flavor with a medium level of sourness. I liked this beer until about 3/4 through until I got a light cream cornlike flavor that threw me off. Overall, pretty decent but not outstanding for me.
3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 Oakes (10941) - Savusavu, FIJI ISLANDS - OCT 16, 2011
Reddish-amber. Woody, Rodenbachish aroma with light raspberry. Bracingly tart on the palate, with light wood. Moderately fruity finish sweetens up a bit, but it is still fairly assertive stuff. When I had a glass at the Santa Fe taproom the wine came out a bit more.

eatery and acidic nose with mild perfumed raspberry fruit puree. prickly medium-high acid (lactic), fruity esters, mild oak affect, soft prickly acid with perfumed dry raspberries. acid and body work well, especially in the finish. mild touch of oak lingers late. sessionable and solid.

3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 Beershine (5173) - The Sunshine State, Florida, USA - OCT 10, 2011
UPDATED: NOV 20, 2011 At ABQ beer fest. Color of strawberry candy. Sort of a pink-orange or red-pink-orange. Aroma is sour fruit, and funk approaching yogurt. A great harmony of fruit and funk. The flavors are nuts and cheese. Spritzy mouthfeel. Nice fruit entry with some cheese in the finish. Not super complex, but very nice....7-3-7-3-14 = 3.4. Then on tap at the Marble taproom SF. Rich garnet color with small head. The bowl of raspberry purity is enhanced greatly by the barrel character, which imparts more of a dry fruit character. Nutty yeast is subdued and adds depth to what is a moderately sour, mainly dry beer with nice chewy malt character. 8-4-7-3-15. Upgraded rating, the taproom pour was a more reliable, and longer, one.
