Cask at The Bow Bar. Pale amber with frothy white head. Nice ginger nose and a heavy root ginger flavour. An impressive brew.

On cask at the Marble Arch. Pours a golden colour with a decent white head. Aroma of ginger, cloves, orange and yeast. Similar ginger flavour upfront with cloves, yeast and grass. Quite bitter with mild carbonation and an oily mouth-feel. Lingering ginger bite. Tasty but I prefer the 6.

Cask at Southampton Arms. A slightly hazy dark blond colour. Aroma is unsurprisingly full on ginger and not much else. Taste gives plenty more ginger and a bit of creaminess/sweetness. Very spicy taste and gives a real prickly feeling in the mouth. Medium bodied with low carbonation. Nice but not sure if I would have more than one in a sitting.

First tasted Southampton Beer Festival 2006 and more recently at Wetherspoons beer festival at the Standing Order-Edinburgh. A honey colooured beer with a gingery aroma and gingerbread flavour. Malty flavour in the aftertaste and leaves a spicy tingle on the tongue. Body quite thin.

Cask, 4.5%. Weak ginger aroma, hint of urine as is common with ginger. Almost clear dark amber colour, almost no head. The flavour has some ginger with a mild bite. Well-balanced. Also a bit of roasted notes.

Cask handpull, The Marble Arch, Manchester. Brilliant lager gold with a white-fringed halo. Bit of a toilet block aroma but don’t be dissuaded....Mellow heat, ginger and lemon of the teabag variety, steady afterglow. Ginger beer should have spice, natural flavour AND balance- this has heaps of it. Lovely softening lemon and Swedish biscuit notes reminding you you are drinking a beer that contains hops and malt. Really nice.

(Cask at Gallows Real Ale Festival 2011) The beer poured golden, clear and without a head. Aroma contained clearly ginger with malty background. Palate was medium bodied with mildly burning feeling. Flavours were ginger, malts, hops, fruitiness and bitterness. Aftertaste had ginger and bitterness. Not a bad beer with ginger but these aren’t my things.

Cask at the Gallows Bird, Espoo, Finland. XIV Real Ale Festival.
Clear pale golden colour with no head. Ginger, ginger, ginger and some balancing malt in aroma. Flavour is ginger, malt and mild hops. Almost creamy.
