tap at the Santa Fe Taphouse-pours "red" as it should be done with a small fizzy off-white head. big piney nose-hop cones, grapefruit and pine. big piney hops on the flavors as well with a very firm sweet malt base. very well balanced! Really tastes like an Amber IIPA if you ask me-all the hops are there but with a firm malt base. a very tasty beer that i wish they brewed year around . very dry finish with lingering sweetness. a great ASA that i would drink alot of if it were regularly available!!

3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Slightly cloudy amber color and medium head. First sip surprised with a lot more hops than I expected. The very floral nose should have clued me in. Once my palate adjusted, the malt backbone showed through in a rounded palate with a slightly sweet, clean finish. Nice balance and really enjoyable beer. I’m not a red fan generally, but this is a good beer.

650ml bottle from Dak. Thanks. Pours a deep dark red-brown color with a medium beige head that has good retention. The aroma is strong with piney biter hops. The flavor is robust with citrus, oranges, piney biter hops, resins, walnuts, caramel malts and rye. The palate is full and smooth with lively carbonation. The finish is long dry and biter. Overall: Very tasty hoppy red ale--compares favorably to Green Flash Hop Head Red.

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
22 oz. bottle from Whole Foods Albuquerque. Pours a sinister dark red, mostly opaque, with a thin off-white head. Aroma is hoppy pine and resin, with hints of dark chocolate, spices, and alcohol. Smells quite decadent. Taste is smooth and succulent, leaning hard toward hops bitterness yet balanced by deep layers of malt sweetness. This brew is strong. It clings to the tongue and provides a long aftertaste of bitterness, complimented by a subtle alcohol burn. Very good for sipping contemplatively. Many characteristics reveal themselves over time in this complex elixir.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
On tap at the brewery. A lot like a bigger version of the red. Has somethings the regular doesn’t though-richer malt character, a hint of chocolate, and some off fruity flavors. Good beer, just not perfectly tuned in like the regular version is.
