4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Usually the idea of an "Imperial Red" has me scrollin’ past pretty hard, thankfully for me though Mr. Ketchepillar brought me this diamond in the rough.
The aroma is very hoppy and appealing, mainly it’s focused around hops including lots of grapefruit and a good bit of pine. Not really sweet or terribly malty smelling, but pungent and inviting.
The flavor is pretty high on bitterness with a nice touch of toasty malt. The beer is not overly sweet and is light on the caramel/toffee notes that usually ruin a beer like this. The alcohol is mild but noticeable, and the hops are really the feature here. Primarily, like in the aroma the feature is the big grapefruit-y hop character with some lighter piney notes.
This totally works better as a Double IPA than many that claim to be of the Double IPA style. A very enjoyable beer.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Bomber - I don’t normally jump on buying an american strong, but I tend to like Marble beers, plus their regular red is quite good - hazy light red - soapy lace - light caramel maltiness in the nose, but the aroma is mostly resinous hops, citrus, lemon, pine - medium body, slightly oily texture, moderate carbonation - flavor is more like an imperial ipa - the malt base provides a decent structure for the hops that dominate the flavor - hop flavors of earth, pine, citrus - bitterness is zesty, peppery, but a tad abrasive in the finish - some alcohol heat at the end as well - simple, but enjoyable enough - I prefer the regular red, though.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Pours red/amber. Nice thick head. A bit sticky on the tongue, but very full flavored. Tons of malt, bread and some caramel. Lots of citrus hops, resin and bitter but not over the top. There are more notes than I can pick out at this time, would like to try this again sometime.

Bottle shared at a tasting at the Beer & Beyond shop. Thanks Ruben for this bottle! Hazy dark reddish amber. Great hoppy aroma, bursting with tropical fruits (lots of melon). Slightly sweetish flavor with chewy malt, a bit of caramel and a very bitter and hoppy finish with a bit of fruitiness and nice piney notes. Medium-bodied. Very nice.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Sampled @ AZ Strong Beer Fest. Vibrant almost glowing crimson with tangerine at its edges and a frothy white head. Bright hops that show grapefruit pith, lemongrass, orange peel and peppery spice accompanied by caramel, toffee and honey. Nice beer!

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bomber picked up recently, think it was $5.49. looks identical to the regular Marble Red, red, good head and lacing. Aroma is a tinge of hops, a wallop of alcohol, and malts giving chase. Flavor was fruity, boozy, and not as full as the regular red. I do suspect that this is the base for the Marble Reserve Ale though I could be wrong. Decent value but not sure I’d buy another.
