Cask at the Southampton Arms on 4th November 2010. Gold with thin part lacing off-white head. Rich grass and grapefruit hoppiness, a spicy aroma and touches of black pepper, all balanced with some malty sweetness. Fruity, spicy and grassy finish on a zingy mouthfeel.

3.4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 14/20
Gravity cask at the Birmingham beer fest. Pours golden with no head. Aroma was tropical fruits and piney hops. Taste had a piney start and a grapefruit medium bitter finish.

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
[cask at 2009 GBBF, Earl’s Court] Pours a lovely golden colour, extremely clear with a nicely retentive head – just a great-looking pint. As you’d expect with a quadruple hop addition that’s what predominant aromas and flavours are. Weighty citrus aromas, then a dark, strong, almost cheesy hop tang to the taste. Very good indeed

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle from Utobeer Market Stall. Golden pour with a fluffy white head. Peaches, pears, some raspberry, tropical fruit nose. A bit of fresh hop in there as well. Citrus attack in the flavour with a hint of ginger and caramel. Good hoppy tang. Nice hoppy finish.

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20
8th September 2010. Cask Pub & Kitchen. ’Meet The Brewer’
Very light haze on this gold beer. Residual white head. Light dry palate, pretty crisp. Light citrus (much less so than the other Marbles tonight) that gets sweeter towards the finish. Finishes dry. Hard to find stuff to say about this - it went down easy but it was one of those that you think afterwards ’what did I just have?’.

3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
I would not call this an IPA but tasty nonetheless. I didn’t get the promised aroma. Mine was more of a hybrid Belgian with some spices and a sweet smell. The pour was a cloudy amber with a huge head that laced and lasted. Tons of carbonation. The flavor was more sweet with a peppery feel. Some more of the Belgian spice and then a dry hop end. The finish was very dry. Nice after taste.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
(Old BA rate - cask)
Straw-like golden color, nearing on amber. Dense white head, with decent lacing throughout the sample. Grassy, citrusy bitter hop aroma with some yeastiness. Good hops up front, much more citrus like than cedary. Prominent malt background, though. Oily, no carbonation to speak of (being cask) and fairly slick mouthfeel. A very drinkable IPA and well-balanced with malt. Not overly complex, but certainly entertaining.

3.5 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Cask handpull, Platform 1B. You know where I’m talking about. Brassy gold, creamy white lid, flocculent clumps. Toned-down, rooty citrus/greenhouse aroma like the Pint but less so. 7. Thinner and creamier without the freshness of hops; nice soapy astringency, grapefruit, bilious citrus. No obvious malt; a little nut huskiness for afters. All well and good, but I’ve got a £1 train to catch...
