3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Black, with a fluffy brown head. Smells milky, chocolatey, and coffee-ish. Taste is coffee and chocolate, of course, a hint of hickory, and a bit of vanilla. Simple and tasty. Good winter beer.

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 13/20
Draft at the Marble bar. Black with good, foamy, beige head / Simple, light, nose of roast barley / Light to medium weak body, spritzy, with fair finish / Simple, straight forward, flavors of roast coffee, bittersweet chocolate, and faint oatmeal / Poor body detracts.

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Draft @ brewery tap. Black with scant to no head. Coffee aroma. Then it tastes like crunching on espresso beans, with a dry finish. More coffee than expecting, and not enough oats. Doesnít even seem creamy or oaty sweet. But itís still a nice beer.

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
UPDATED: NOV 4, 2011 Very dark brown with a thick even head. The aroma is lightly roasty. Full-bodied, nice roasty, chocolatey character. Dries out in the finish, but without any hop character. Good balanced stout, maybe not showing enough oatmeal for the style, but a good stout.

Nose is the best part of this beer-lots of coffee and roasted malt and a little dark chocolate. I think this is better than the current 78 point rating. Probably a bit thin for the style, and maybe a bit drier than most expect. I wouldnít call it a sweet stout. Nice black, opaque center, minimal dark creamy lacing, almost no head. Taste follows nice with chocolate taking on more milk than dark notes but not off-putting (I hate milk-chocolate tasting beers for the record).

3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Draft at Santa Fe taproom. Black body with a foamy, tan head. Aroma of roasted and burnt malts, caramel with hints of chocolate and coffee. The flavor is moderately sweet and moderately bitter. It finishes lightly to moderately sweet and moderately bitter. Medium body, watery texture and moderate carbonation. Roast and burnt tastes dominate. Coffee bitterness lingers. A bit thin for an oatmeal stout, but a nice drinker.

Brown/black pour with tan head and lace. Medium coffee, toasted malt, and a bit ashy. Coffee, roasted malt, licorish. Thin and fizzy. Just a tad off somewhere for me.
