Bottle picked up at the Marble Arch, Manchester 2011 consumed at home 22.01.12 Hazy amber with filmy head. Orangey bitterness shining through, sot in the mouth. This is a very nice beer, the orange and citrus flavours show well, some biscuit (hob nobs), little caramel, really interesting. A7 A4 T8 P4 Ov14 3.7

750ml bottle, drunk on 24 December 2011. This is the collaboration brew between Marble and John Keeling of Fullers. I had tried it on draught at Borefts beer festival and was pleased to be able to try it from bottle too. Judging from the labelling, the bottles were destined for the USA so it was good to find some had been diverted. Poured a gingery amber colour with a slight haze. Thin off-white head. Aroma has orange peel and resinous hop character coupled with some fruity malt loaf elements and a touch of caramel. Smells quite sweet. Rich and a little sticky on the palate with strong orangey hops, becoming bitter on the finish and lingering into the aftertaste. Maybe just a touch astringent. Tart, tangy fruit in abundance too. Alcohol is warming but not too hot. Not sure I would have had this down as an old ale but it’s quite difficult to categorise so I suppose that’s as good as any. Whatever it is, it was very tasty and satisfying.
