Cask at Lady Grey’s, Newcastle. Hazy pale gold, thin white head. Big hop aromas, citrus and spice and resin. Very bitter taste, bit unbalanced. OK

Cask at the Birmingham Beer Festival 2013. Poured a clear straw colour with a bubbly white head. The aroma is big zesty orange citrus marmalade yeast and spicy hops. The flavour is medium bitter with a light bodied palate and a long citrus bitter finish. Looked awful but smelled awesome and tasted just as good. Super refreshing and loads of complex flavours. Cask at the old fountain. Pale straw colour with a fleeting white head. Aroma is earthy hop and bready malt. Flavour has light tobacco and tea. More earthy hops. Light body. Very sessionable. Some cereal and light citrus.

3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
My Bottom Line:
Mild citrusy hops bring forth herbal connotations in this Golden Ale otherwise generous in straw-like cereal flavors.
Further Personal Perceptions:
-A creamy head of foam covers the straw golden.
-The body is beautifully rounded.
-Drinkability is very high.
-Interest is lost halfway through the pint. I would have preferred a brighter hop profile.
-Spicy hop resins bitter up the finish.
-The spicy, citrusy character is reminiscent of lemongrass at times.
On cask at Craft Beer Co., Brighton.

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
On tap @ Marble Arch. Pours golden with a nicely proportioned head. The nose has the expected grapefruit but with a decent amount of malt too. The taste confirms the nose and perhaps hints at pine. The palate is medium bodied and textured with a long tangy finish. Overall, a good session ale.

Had on handpull. Manchester Marble ales are near and dear to my heart--certainly my go-to brewery. Loads of fruits and flowers and delicious malts give this ale some real character. More so than most other similar English ales.
