Bomber, 2012 vintage. Intoxicating aroma of caramel, bourbon, wood and vanilla. Pours reddish-brown with a thin tan head with good retention and lacing. Starts with excellent caramel sweetness with a slick, smooth mouthfeel. Finishes equally as smooth with the bourbon, wood and vanilla taking center stage as well as a slight boozy burn at the very end. This is a fantastic beer with the complex flavors complementing each other quite nicely.

Bottle - Pours brown with a bubbly ring of head. Nose is not pungent. It’s boozy and sharp with lots of bourbon sweetness and sweet, bready malt. Taste is vanilla, oak, sweet bourbon, caramel, and dry bread. Warm finish with thin carbonation.

Draft at the Santa Fe Taproom.

Lighter red-brown pour. Bourbon aroma and flavor, massive vanilla. Gentle sweetness, not too sticky, not too boozy. Good beer.

UPDATED: DEC 31, 2014 2013 vintage 22oz bomber from Elise. Aged the better part of a year. Wow. This is pretty phenomenal. Ruby amber-brown body, unfiltered. Foamy glass lacing beige head. Bourbon-vanilla aroma. Quite reminiscent of the Bourbon Barrel Barleywine from Goose Island in some respects. Has enough Barleywine characteristics that I’d be happy to categorize it as that. Chewy caramel woody bourbon candy tones. Solid.

Reviewed from notes. This was poured into a snifter. The appearance was a ruddy brown color with a one finger white to off white foamy head that dissipated within about a minute leaving a light foamy trickling lacing. The smell had a deep caramel maltiness combining with a decent boozy vanilla and offering a delicate chocolate and coffee. The taste had a deep sweet boozy hotness allowing the chocolate, coffee and vanilla to combine and intermingle with the booze. On the palate, this one sat about a medium on the body with a fair sessionable aspect about it. The carbonation was good for the style as it was fairly harsh but not too much. Light boozy vanilla rolls over my tongue to the finish. Overall, wow, what a really nice offering from a Brewer I don’t know much about just yet. I definitely would have this again.

Growler thanks to Ilya! Pours a clear amber with a slight brown hue and an off-white head that dissipates to the edges. Aroma has a good amount of vanilla and bourbon with sweet grains and a bread backbone. Flavor starts with grain and as light bitterness/booze with growing vanilla and bourbon.

Bomber from Dick’s. I think basically everything Marble makes is exemplary so I just went ahead and snatched this bad boy up. Poured into a goblet, the beer is a deep, rich, clear ruby red with a small khaki head. Aroma smells like a barleywine. There are plenty of sweet malt notes of toffee and bread along with potent vanilla/charred oak and subtler hints of tobacco, earth and berries. The body is medium heavy with the perfect amount of sweetness for the style. This is barleywine, right? I don’t see what else it could be. The bitterness becomes apparent finally in the flavor, but no real strong hop flavors develop. More sweet notes of toffee, vanilla, oak, figs, tobacco and rip fruits come through. Very nice beer.

"2011 I think. Right out of the fridge and bottle, the aroma needed time to warm up, but when it did - this beer was pretty damn good. Big, rich, warming. Sweet leaning from both the barrels and the malty backbone, though the hops were adequate as well. Leaning towards barleywine in style, but an american strong for whatever reason. Toffee, caramel, hops, vanilla and bourbon on the nose and tongue. I’d get this again

2012 vintage, consumed 2/19/15. Draft. Age treated this well, as I found this to be much better than many others. Clear ruby mahogany. Small beige head. Gorgeous aroma. Complex. Great bourbon barrel character. Very ’cohesive’. Great balance. Super.

Poured an amber color with aromas of caramel and booze. Flavors are booze, caramel and off putting cardboard. Shucks that this started out so nice and ended so horribly.
