3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle from Scott - thanks! Murky red pour with a slick of off-white foam. Aroma is light bourbon with minor vanilla over heavy raisin and sweet malt with light bitterness. Taste is bourbon up front and a very sweet, dense malt profile with raisin, plum, toffee, alcohol spice, and hop bitterness on the finish. Coating mouthfeel. Okay. Base beer seems pretty rough.

4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
’12 bottle. Beautiful mahogany red brown in the glass with strong carbonation. Nose of tobacco and tart cherry, toffee, maybe some oak. Taste very much follows, with some bourbony vanilla sweetness. Has aged quite nicely. This is more old ale-forward than bourbon-barrel driven whatever...I think that’s a good thing personally. Very nice and decently priced. Will get again...terrific winter warmer.

2.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 10/20
Poured a disturbingly ugly muddy brown body with a smaller soap bubble head. Aroma of oxidation, bourbon, fig, dates, toffee, bad dough. Medium bodied with a dry alcoholic finish and a lingering lousy aftertaste. Flavor of cardboard, toffee, raisin and dates, bad bourbon, uncooked Pillsbury dough, vanilla.

22oz bomber. Shared thanks to Dean and Dave. Pours a cloudy dark amber color with a thin tan head. Aroma of toffee/caramel, and some dark fruits. Taste of caramel, oak, brown sugar, roasted malt, and hints of vanilla. A little boozy in the aftertaste.

3.8 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle, courtesy of Trukpro – thanks! Amber brown pour with a bit of beige head. Light bits of lacing. Nose is mostly from the barrel treatment; oak, light bourbon, and vanilla. Chocolate and caramel malts along with some faded citrus hops have done well in the barrel. Minimal oak, light bourbon, and vanilla. It does get a little sweet overall… the aroma is so boozy I didn’t expect this (the heavy sweetness), but it still drinks quite well.

3.1 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Brownish-red body yields plenty of head and lace. Bourbon aroma. Sweet through the middle before oak and bourbon take over. Vanilla and caramel. Tastes like a wee heavy. Solid.

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
22oz bottle pours a hazy, cola brown with some clumpy, white head. Nose is mostly whiskey, caramel, vanilla, coconut, cola, malt, grape jelly. Flavor is sweet, brown sugar, cakey, whiskey, vanilla, a little paint thinner. Full, sweet, boozy finish. I’d definitely lay this down for a number of years.

3.6 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
22 oz bottle, mfg 12/17/12. Pours dark copper amber with a medium creamy off white head that goes to a thin film and laces the glass.
The aroma is perfumey vanilla , boozy bourbon and a little green apple.
The flavor is sweet chocolate malts with a lot of roast, bourbon with an alcohol bite and a smokey bitter finish that lingers. The mouthfeel is medium to full bodied with smooth carbonation.
Overall, a nice bourbon beer. Still a bit on the sweet and boozy side but had some interesting flavors.
