Lukaduke (1753) - Portland, Maine, USA - OCT 3, 2012
Pours a deep hazy golden copper color with a small half finger of foam that settles out very quickly. Aromas are toffee, grass and a big malty a touch of spicy booze. On the palate its a lot of the same with a very low carbonation, a bit heavy on the mouthfeel, and a very caramel toffee malty backbone that carries the fruity spicy yeasty saison flavors but keep them tucked in and the never really shine. Meh.

750, corked and baled. The baling on the Marble 750s is always a little sloppy and tends to cut into the fingers a bit. Pours a murky medium amber with a loose whitish head and spotty drips of lace. Fruity nose, lots of pear and banana. Creamy medium body, carb could be a bit livelier but isnt bad. Oranges, pears, and bananas on the mid palate. Mild white pepper finish. Bit of an odd duck.

Drunk at Cotteridge Wines very very good beer sampling party. Tasty saison. Saisons both intrigue and confuse me. Im not sure why, thats probably because Im confused.

Bottled 750ml (vPBF, vintage 2011)
Hazy orange color, steady white head, lace. Horse blanket, spices, winegum. Medium-bodied. Very spicey, hoppy, a bit alcoholic, fruity-grapefruity flavor. This is interesting beer - to love or hate. I liked it.

lusikka (5376) - Tampere, FINLAND - AUG 24, 2012
750 ml bottle @ vPBF 2012.
Pours hazy orange colour with a good frothy head. Aroma of strong sweet orange, clove and alcohol. Flavour of sweet orange, alcohol, pale malts, strong perfumic grassy hops, rubber and some caramel. Medium bodied, foamy mouthfeel and high carbonation. Finishes sweetish, a bit musty and very high bitter. Some mild off-flavours and very high bitterness for a saison.
