from Erzbierschof; wins the award of the beer the most fucking difficult to open ... - pours a cloudy brown beer with no head retention; caramel, marzipan and flowery hops are building a pretty complex aroma; notes of raisins appear too; full-bodied and with a low carbonation; decently bitter and solidly malty finish; very long flowery hoppy finish with light citric notes - beautiful

75cl, Vintage 2009, at 10.7%Vol, recently retired exclusive English brew, from De Bierkoning Amsterdam, complex brew, sweet/fruity and slightly alcoholic, not too heavy, balanced, cloudy, nearly no head, good brew, yet expensive!

2010-11-29, vintage 2009, huge thanks go to fonefan for this highly wanted bottle, 8-5-7-4-15=39
Corked bottle, with a rather annoying wax-plastic. Beautiful, bright amber color, hazy; medium sized head; the thin layer that persists, later, has rather big bubbles. Very nice aroma, malt, rich, and also some fruity presence; not as strong as an American Barley Wine, but mid-Atlantic anyway. Correct body structure, but, as suspected by the fluid pour, not as thick as most Barley Wines; good caramel and toffee flavor, but not extremely rich; moderate sweetness, with a trace of sweet nuts; correct bitterness; a warming touch of alcohol in the end. Balanced and pleasant, although not vibrant.

2010-05-06, blind tasting at Yespr, 7-4-8-4-15=38
Hazy amber color, but with some particles floating around. The aroma is light, but the flavor is good caramel, sweet, a bit buttery. Quite strong bitterness. Good, if you can stand diacetyl.

Grasiges Finish. /11/9/11//11

Tap @ In de wildeman - pours a clear copper brown body. Great aroma, honey, flowery hops. Smooth and warming taste, pine, mildly sweet, nice hops. Very sticky mouthfeel and aftertaste, in a good way.

Leighton (4100) - London, Greater London, ENGLAND - JAN 10, 2011
Bottle shared at the Euston Tap, much thanks to Nate. Pours a rich, lightly cloudy auburn with a modest, creamy head. Considerble hops in the nose, some shampoo, good fruits. Rich but relaxed and easy flavor, loads of juicy citrus, Bazooka Joe bubble gum, alcohol and some floral bitters. Medium to full in body with average, massaging carbonation. Boozy warmth creeps up in the finish, engulfing the mouth, while more citrus fruits, sugary caramel, gum and resinous hops seal the deal. Very, very nice.

Bottle; thanks to Nate! Bomber, as depicted, consumed @ mini tastings at Rake during The Kernel Black IPA launch Aroma is yeast; candi sugar and something tarty. Taste is citrus, marzepan, fruits, orange peel and tart. Big bold US hop character and very easy to drink despite the abv. A bit hazy in appearance but generally a great full on English beer taking on the yanks. Need to get a bottle for myself somehow.. Nice.

Bottle courtesy of my dad, cheers dad! This was consumed 31.12.10 Pours light brown with some haze and a smattering of tiny bubbles masquerading as a head. Beefy and Oxo like on the nose. Thick in the mouth, some stinging bitterness is quickly replaced by a heavy sweetness, fruity with loads of alcohol. . A6 A3 T7 P4 Ov14 3.4

Pours hazy dark amber with small tanned head. Malty, caramel, fidges and raisins aroma. Lean alcoholic mouthfeel. Alcohol, velvety, fruity and malty flavor. Finishes sweet and dry tart hoppy. Very nice English BW.
