On tap @ Marble Arch. Pours opaque black with a nice creamy fawn head. The nose has dark chocolate, perhaps heading into liquorice. The taste has more dark chocolate but this time there’s also a hint of coffee. The palate is medium to full bodied with a big creamy texture and a slightly cloying but still nice finish. Overall, good but could be better balanced.

Bottle from Deliciouslydifferent. Dark brown, black colour, beige foam. Medium carbonation. Aroma of roasted malts with light notes of port. Easy drinkable. Good stout!

McWorta (555) - LUXEMBOURG - DEC 8, 2013
Black coloured beer with a tan pillowy head. Noses of roasted malt, bitter chocolate and coffee. Rather thin to slick in texture with a full body. Offers a pleasant astringent, acidic coffee bitterness in the taste. Finish is well balanced and sticks to its coffee roasted malt programme for a good while.

worldbeertaste (1608) - AUSTRIA - OCT 27, 2013
Dark brown almost black with a thin, sticky, lasting tan head. Smells of full deep roasted malt, caramel, chocolate, coffee and port/spirit. Frothy medium oily body with soft carbonation. A bit prickly. Tastes of deep roasted malt, chocolate and caramel. Initial taste of port but fades very quickly. Some overall dryness is not my preference. Slightly grassy finish. Generally very rich and nice to drink. It’s clearly high quality but not as amazing as it could be.

Bottle shared at beer study. Black with a study off white lace, small beige head. Nose is roasty, light smoke, dark fruits, charred oak. Flavor is malty and roast, quite husky. A little metallic and mineral-like in the finish. Thanks Papsoe! ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle from House of Trembling Madness. Pours an opaque black, with a tiny head. Aroma is dark fruit, coffee, port. Taste is ashy, with dark fruits, some port and coffee. Medium body, with a longish finish. Yummy, but could be better.

Bottle from Trembling Madness. Opaque black, bubbly creamy beige head that leaves good lacing. Nose of liquorice, oak, oats, soft port fruit, some dry roast malts. Thick, roasty palate - very dry. Ashy, coffee, tobacco, touch of lactose too, hint of liquorice and wood, just the barest hint of sweetness. Finish is dry, ashy, roast malt bitterness. Very subtle, but very tasty.

Cask at Craft Beer Co, London on 4th April 2012. Ink black with thin part-lacing grey head. Pungent aroma with smoke notes. Roast malts, coffee and lacticity in-mouth, along with smoke and herbiness leading to a rich and complex end. Engaging texture. Delicious.

Cask @ Craft. Jet black with decent head. Smokey aromas. More hop bitterness than from roasted malts, but coffee is lingering in the aftertaste.
