3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 FatPhil (6216) - Tallinn, - AUG 14, 2011
Bottle (ChrisO Pre-GBBF2011 "Donkey Dork Lord" Shindig)
Pretty tasty stout. Cowers in the shade of the American Xantus IS I just had. Simple, rich roast dominates, but there’s no lack of balance there. Would like to have it again, certainly.

Bottle from Trembling Madness. Opaque black, bubbly creamy beige head that leaves good lacing. Nose of liquorice, oak, oats, soft port fruit, some dry roast malts. Thick, roasty palate - very dry. Ashy, coffee, tobacco, touch of lactose too, hint of liquorice and wood, just the barest hint of sweetness. Finish is dry, ashy, roast malt bitterness. Very subtle, but very tasty.
