Cask (gravity) @ The 17th Reading Beer and Cider Festival 2011, Reading, Berkshire England.

Clear medium amber colour with a average, frothy - fizzy, good lacing, mostly to fully lasting, off-white head. Aroma is moderate malty, grain, caramel, toffee, light to moderate hoppy, orange - citrus. Flavor is moderate to heavy sweet and bitter with a long duration. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft to flat. [20110428]

Cask (gravity dispense) at Reading Beer Festival on 28 April 2011.Amber / copper colour - we’re definitely talking light mild here, in colour if not flavour. Actually came over more like one of those strong, ruby milds (e.g. Sarah Hughes). However, the aroma seemed rather grainy and there was an initial whiff of butterscotch. There’s some caramel and somewhat sour berry fruit. Also some bitter, hoppy notes but they didn’t seem that well integrated. I’m usually a big fan of Marble beers but this one seemed a bit odd and not entirely to my taste. Not sure the condition was spot on so flagged for re-rate.

Cask at the Euston Tap. Clear, ruby-brown pour with a tight, white head. Light, ripe fruits in the nose with grassy hops. Flavor at first is sweet and fruity but quickly changes to very bitter. Woody, deep earth bitters. Medium bodied with fine carbonation. Heavy grass in the finish, faint sugars. Really, tons of lingering bitterness.

Cask gravity at Reading BF 2011. Some caramel on aroma. Some toast in mouth. Interesting malts in mouth and I really do like the toast. Caramel butter runs throughout. Dry toast finish. Interesting

A Mes rate: Cask at the Marble Arch Inn.
Clean mid brown, very light for a mild with a thin beige film. Fairly bland aroma. Light notes of berries and alcohol with some sweet malt too. Flavour is similar and almost a 7 but it was let down by a very medicinal note that lingers in the finish. Certainly not my favourite Marble but dare I say ’imperial’ mild?
