Angenehm süßlich-rauchiger Geruch, holzig. Rauchiger, kurzzeitig leicht süßlicher Antrunk, der kräftig, aber nicht sehr voluminös wirkt. Im Mittelteil wird das Bier wieder süßer, es ist im Hintergrund durchgängig leicht holzig. Auch würziger wird im Mittelteil, mit der Süße ist dies gut abgestimmt. Immer präsent, wenn auch nie wirklich führend ist das sanfte Raucharoma, aufgrund der Aromenvielfalt fällt der Hopfen erst spät auf, passt aber gut in die Aromenkette. Im Nachgeschmack rauchiger, die anderen Aromen werden schnell schwächer. Sehr zu empfehlen!

Bottle thanks to HogtownHarry- A hazy orangey pour with a generous creamy off white foam. Leaves a bit of spotty lace. Aromas of mild smoked malts, tropical fruit, banana, spices, clove. An earthy flavour profile has smoke malts, a sweet fruitiness, with banana, and apricot, a bit of spice. Very creamy, well balanced, quite drinkable. I liked this a lot more than I thought I would. Excellent stuff. Thanks Harry!

Bottle consumed 24 months after its release: Poured a light golden color ale with a large foamy head with good retention and some lacing. Aroma of caramel malt is quite sublime with no traces of smoke. Taste is dominated by great caramel malt with hints of dry fruits; smoke has totally disappeared and been replaced by some complex malt. Body is quite full with great carbonation and no signs of alcohol. Not the beer I was expecting but I must admit that this has turned extremely well.

750 mL bottle aged 18 months. Light copper in colour with a fluffy head and some fine sediment. The head doesn’t last. Smells exactly how you’d expect a smoked weizen to smell, with the distinctive elements of the smoke and the weizen. Very unique flavour; it’s a weizen, but hte smoke hits strongly about halfway thru, then fades a bit. This one may work better if the base weizen were a little meatier. Body a little thin, and carbonation is low (perhaps due to the aging?).

(Dégusté avec french tickler) Une biere de couleur peches avec un moyen colletun peu collant. Odeur de peches, gomme balloune, sel, pain, sensation fumé. Gout de saumon fumé, un peu épicés, sel, caramel et un peu les oranges.

750mL bottle purchased from, where else, Marche Joanette. Purchased in February, consumed on Father’s Day in June. It seems to have held up just fine. Pours a nice cloudy light-to-medium gold with quite a bit of carbonation. Aroma is a bit light, but is smoky and wheaty. So far, so good. The flavour is very nice. The smoke is present throughout the taste, neither light nor over-the-top. Less wheaty than a typical wheat beer. Less smoky than the Aecht Schlenkerla. But it all comes together very nicely. I wish there were more examples of this style available.
