3.2 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 KyotoLefty (3762) - Kyoto, - DEC 8, 2008
Bottle in Menton, 2006.
A blonde beer with a slight amber tinit. Left the yeast in the bottle, but it is still pretty cloudy. Very small head, turning into lace immediately.
Strong aroma of fruits and spice—additive, I was told. Smells like red berries, spices, quite sweet, actually, not much malt or hops coming through.
Tastes like beer, though, even if it doesn’t quite smell like it. A slightly roasted malt flavor is accompanied by cinnamon. Good hops too, I think. It is a bit sour, from what, I do not know.
Not as sweet as I expected. Not as fruity either. It is primarily a heavily spiced blonde almost amber ale? I like it. It is a bit over the top in the spicing, but not at all disgusting. It works, though it relies a bit too much on the flavorings to get it through, not enough malt flavor. Not perfect, not exactly my type, but nice. Better in the summer, I think. One of the best highly-spiced beers I have had.
2.5 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 9/20 esp0r (803) - NORWAY - JUN 1, 2012
Bought at Brune Rousse Houblon in Nice, enjoyed at home
Copper hazy, finger thick beige head. Smells of anis, yeast, some malts. Taste is quite yeasty, some malts too. Medium sweet, some spice and quite fruity. Light bitter finish, some nice hops in there. Medium body, soft carbonation, watery texture. Totally a beer that clearly is a micro. Still there is alot of improvement possibilities Good luck bold french brewers in the land of wine
3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 Marko (3161) - Split, CROATIA - OCT 18, 2009
Bottle at Saveurs d’Eléonore, Menton. Poured an orange/amber body with a small thick hazy white head. Plenty of floaties, lively carbonation. Pleasant honeyish maltines in the nose, mixing with notes of oranges and some spices. Pleasant light spicy taste, orangs, almost like a Belgian ale. Refreshing, with some hop bitterness showing up near the end. A lovely little find and definitely extremely underrated (see what one bad bottle that some of the former raters seem to have shared can do to a beer’s score...).
3.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 heavy (1490) - Split, CROATIA - OCT 15, 2009
09/10 A 0.33 l bottle from a bar in Menton. It poured a hazy orange to brown body with medium head, although we left some yeast in the bottle. Weaker aroma of some caramel, orange and spices... Flavor is quite different, yeasty with some hops. Caramel malt and orange are still intertwining between cloying yeast and a touch of alcohol near the finish. Finish itself was longer as of fuller body, with specially pronounced orange. Nice one indeed.

3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 thill25 (231) - Orlando, Florida, USA - JUL 10, 2008
33 cl bottle...pours hazy dark gold accompanied with some floaties and an extra active white head .(i.e. over carbonated, at least two finger). The nose was booming with fruits, yeast and spice. This carried over to the flavor of the beer creating a mix of caramel, apple, toffee, and sweet bread. I’m not sure this was on par with style as it drank more like a Belgian golden ale than an amber ale. Nonetheless, this was a very good beer that I’ll seach for again on my next trip to the French Riviera.
