Golden color with strong head. Aroma of apple, yeast. Sweet flavor of apple, some grape, malt, brown sugar. Cloying sugary finish.

[Sampled in Skåne at the canoe-tasting, 2005.] A strong triple, but very challenging with the usual triplenotes of sugar, grapes, alcohol, spices, malt and with a heavy sticky finish. Quite good, but not my style!

Pours dark orange / bronze with a cascade of carbonation and a large dense off-white head. The aroma has candi sugar, grapes, nectarines and thick earthiness - very thick and rich. Medium body that’s thinner than expected and fairly sharp with lots of carbonation. The taste starts with toffee / caramel malt, some medicinal characteristics and brown sugar with sharp flavors. The finish is quite sharp and sour. This is okay, but far from being a great tripel.

330 ml botte (in Senegal, looking a little bit beat up...) Grape, apple, aroma. Color of fresh apple cider, cloudy orange with traces of brown. The flavor was fruity again with the apples. The mouthfeel was somewhat sticky and heavy, the aftertaste cloying sweet. I enjoyed this, but if it was any warmer here this would have been far too heavy. Probably something better for a cold winter’s night.

This beer is a hazy yellow-amber with a big frothy head that leaves excellent lacing. The aroma is of cookies, toffee, and banana chips. The yeast provides a sour, musty scent. The flavor is banana-bubblegum, clove, soy sauce and wood. It has a full, creamy feel that tapers off to a dry dusty aftertaste. It is moderately bitter and acidic and lightly sweet. A good tripel.

330ml. Pours a translucent, light golden with a large, cobwebbed white head. Aroma is beery, yeasty, tripel-like. Taste is normal at first then a sharp stab of alcohol kicks in. Very boozy tripel. They overdid it with the alcohol.

A good tripel, quite tasty. Sweetish finish, though it is well attenuated. A bit of alcohol comes through. Good fruity, belgian character.

330 ml bottle. Deep golden amber colour. Tall off-white head as is typical of the style. Head clings to the glass as it falls down. Crystal clear. Apricoty malty aroma. Quite clean. Some residual sugars and a little caramel. Nice hop bitterness cuts through the malt sweetness and the alcohol. High carbonation level and bitterness leaves a dry sensation on the tongue. Long lasting funky yeast flavours. Nice tripel.

UPDATED: FEB 3, 2008 This beer pours a murky amber color with a thick, creamy head. The head stuck around the whole time I was drinking the beer. The smell was of alcohol, spices and some good old malty sweetness. This is a very smooth beer and went down so easy. I tasted citrus, rasins, malt, alcohol, spices and some sweetness. The mouthfeel is tremendous...really sticks around quite a while. This is quite a Belgian beer. I am a big fan of this style, and it didn’t disappoint. This beer sat around in my basement awhile...I could always find another beer that was higher rated to try in its place. After trying this beer for the first time, I am not only going to store another two or three of these in the basement for a while, I am going to try the eight as well. Solid effort and one of my favorites.
