February 2008, opened in October 2013. Mercy hazy brown with a white, lacy, lasting thick, lasting head. Smells of nut, grape, malt, yeast, raisins, and apple juice. Full smooth creamy body. Bitter nutty flavour, malt, with notes of wheat, and brown sugar. Toasted malt and grape dry finish. Nutty. Thanks to deanso for the beer.

UPDATED: OCT 18, 2013 33cl bottle into tulip
Also 25cl en pression
Appearance: cloudy golden orange. Excellent head with impressive retention. Nice lacing on glass.
Aroma: yeast, sweet malt, alcohol.
Taste: sweet but with a good balance of bitterness. Alcohol in the finish.
Palate: full body, carbonation gives frothy texture, long finish.
Overall: there is a lot to like about this beer, the appearance is about as good as you can ask for. The palate is well done also. Aroma is fairly typical for the style, though the alcohol is more present than most. When I first tried this, it may have been a bit too cold, so I let it warm a bit and tried again. Much better at cellar temps than straight out of the fridge.

Handsome beer. Accessibly tasty despite 10% AV. I don’t normally drink beers above 8.5%, but this one is quite palatable even for a tenderfoot such as myself.

4.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20
UPDATED: OCT 11, 2013 Aroma is floral with hints of plum and raisins. Pours like a commercial, and carbonation keeps streaming from pour to finish. Flavor is more mild than most Trappists and the burn is much lighter. I love it.

Bottle at the ommegang cafe. Pours a golden tan cot with a bready, sweet and boozy tase. Very distinct and well made. Yeasty and delicious. Great with a sharp cheese
