Nov. 23, 2012. On tap at Brewery Ommegang, Cooperstown, NY - followed up by a bottle tasting the next day. Sampled alongside a bowl of vegetarian chili at the cafe on site. Lemon-floral, well-balanced, dry finish. The 10% alcohol is well-hidden. Bottom line: A great tripel!

Solid. However, there are better. The problem here is that there’s some alcohol heat/burn that I don’t get in others of this variety.

Pouco amargor. Equilibrada.

@ Hotel Van Belle, Brussels 150513. Bottle (375 ml) from local minimarket. Yeasty and fruity, malty and estery with light spicy notes, banana, sweet, medium body with an oily texture. The finish is dry and yeasty.

Cloudy honey brown color, big off-white head. Aroma of banana, yeast, sugar and alcohol. Medium to heavy sourness with same amount of sweetness. Alcohol is present. Some fruity notes, plums perhaps. Medium body, a bit creamy, soft carbonation. Not bad.

What’s not to like? A big, bready and yeasty brew, sweet, goes down easy and hides the ABV almost totally. For those who crave hops, this is not the ticket, but for those of us who love a well-balanced, traditional and time-honored style of brewing, this is a good example of the tripel style.

Cerveja de aroma complexo, levemente frutado. Cor bronze com espuma alaranjada persistente. Sabor intenso, adocicado, com notas de mel. Alcool presente ao final embora suave para 10%.

I liked this one a lot better than the 6. Complex aroma and flavors. Getting some sweet raison, honey, bread notes, etc. Alcohol bite hidden quite well for 10%. Great resemblance of this style. I will add this to my "Try Again" list!

Color Amber dark and slightly opaque. Cream is beige, well formed and effervescent, Mid, dense and persistent high. The Aroma shown pleasantly sweet and fruity with notes of yeast and citrus shades of tangerine. Fresh honey is very characteristic and, spices, sweet pears and ripe apples, yeast. Your taste is very peculiar sweet and slightly acidic with a fruity beautiful gently salty. Brings a strong taste of spices like cinnamon, ginger, and white pepper with a citrus and slightly acidic subtlety Tangerine decorating the mouth with refreshing flavors. Behold, then then there is the heat of alcohol carries malts, yeast, baking powder, suitable fig touches grapes that remain long stretches of mouth. When the foam gives a little we can see a beautiful and pleasant effervescence in the cup and that is transmitted to the mouth, an average degree of carbonation. Alcohol very well inserted in the set is one that despite its high degree is well camouflaged by the light sweetness of the drink. Medium body, oily feel, medium carbonation, semisweet long finish fruity and well. A beautiful Tripel very good drinkability.
