voota (754), Melbourne, Australia Feb 25, 2007 Pours clear golden with a large white head. Settles into the glass leaving some nice lacing. Plain, sweet and slightly metallic aroma, with some light apricot esters too. Carbonation is prickly, with a thin alcoholic feel to it. Flavours of caramel, metal and some rough stonefruit esters. The finish is light but warming. Nothing special at all.
PaulHegedus (43), Brampton, Ontario, Canada Aug 29, 2008 Draught at Toronado, Haight St. San Francisco. July 2008. Pours a cloudy golden orange with a healthy head full of fruit aromas, orange, fresh peach, lemon. The flavour is slightly sweet, spiced with orange, citrus and breadiness. TheKeg (8), Louisiana, USA does not count Aug 20, 2008 This was new to Chimes last time I went. Since I liked the 8, I figured I’d like the 10. The taste of this beer is sweeter than the Maredsous 8, and the alcohol is more pronounced. It left my mouth a little sticky feeling. Not a bad beer, but at $8 a pint, I’ll stick the Maredsous 8. sebletitje (258), Tampa, Florida, USA Aug 14, 2008 On tap at the Maredsous abbey in a clay mug.
Pours amber with a thick creamy beige head.
Aroma is malty sweet sugary, taste is again candi sugar, floral light malt and hops, notes of dark fruits such as cherries, prunes , raisins, after taste is spicy and malty.
I found the tap version to be a lot better than the bottled one.
An excellent triple, well balanced. fata2683 (86), APO, New York, USA Aug 13, 2008 Smells, and tastes like alcohol, a big beer trapped in a small bottle. Decent triple. espenra (103), Oslo, Norway Aug 9, 2008 33cl bottle from Vinmonopolet. It poured an amber golden colour with a medium white head that settles down fast in the glass and leaves a thin layer remaining on the top. The aroma smells of fruits, spices and alcohol. The flavour is bittersweet and tastes of spices, fruits and alcohol.
It has a short aftertaste.
