AmEricanbrew (907), Left Coast, Louisiana, USA Jan 9, 2008 The 75 cl. bottle pours an amber colored fluid with a foamy white, lingering head. Nice lacing on the glass. Has a very peppery, spicy orange peel smell. Slightly sweet, fruity, spicy, bready taste. Has a nice bite to the mouthfeel. Finishes dry with a strong hop alcohol bitterness.
Definitely a triple worth visiting again
TheKeg (8), Louisiana, USA does not count Aug 20, 2008 This was new to Chimes last time I went. Since I liked the 8, I figured I’d like the 10. The taste of this beer is sweeter than the Maredsous 8, and the alcohol is more pronounced. It left my mouth a little sticky feeling. Not a bad beer, but at $8 a pint, I’ll stick the Maredsous 8. sebletitje (242), Tampa, Florida, USA Aug 14, 2008 On tap at the Maredsous abbey in a clay mug.
Pours amber with a thick creamy beige head.
Aroma is malty sweet sugary, taste is again candi sugar, floral light malt and hops, notes of dark fruits such as cherries, prunes , raisins, after taste is spicy and malty.
I found the tap version to be a lot better than the bottled one.
An excellent triple, well balanced. fata2683 (62), APO, New York, USA Aug 13, 2008 Smells, and tastes like alcohol, a big beer trapped in a small bottle. Decent triple. espenra (97), Oslo, Norway Aug 9, 2008 33cl bottle from Vinmonopolet. It poured an amber golden colour with a medium white head that settles down fast in the glass and leaves a thin layer remaining on the top. The aroma smells of fruits, spices and alcohol. The flavour is bittersweet and tastes of spices, fruits and alcohol.
It has a short aftertaste. Borresteijn (448), Amstelveen, Netherlands Aug 7, 2008 Many bottles and taps, @ De Geuzen & Café Gollem. Amber-golden colour, nice thick creamy head. Aroma of fruits, alcohol, slightly sour. Taste is sharp, a bit sour, sweet, alcohol, spices and fruits. Creamy mouthfeel. A very robust triple. I must admit it’s not the most subtle example of the style (understatement of the year?) but still one of the best imo.
