Nate (2253), Indiana, Pennsylvania, USA May 22, 2004 Malty with notes of burnt toast, caramel, caramelized fruit, beets, sugar, and spices. Brilliant hazy amber (like butterscotch) with creamy lacing off-white head. Medium chewy body with medium-high carbonation. Silky. Starts sweet and sugary, with mild acidity and no bitterness. Fruity and sugary malts remain to finish, with musky grains and alcohol ending. Some bitterness comes along in aftertaste - a little drying, but for the most part, it’s a sweet and carbonic mixture. Definite alcohol presence. Pretty complex flavor. A very nice beer.
DrDavid (330), Johnson, Vermont, USA Oct 5, 2008 (Bottle). Medium-sweet fruit aroma. Clear light copper color, huge off-white foamy head. Flavor is delicious fruits and herbs, medium carbonation, very light finish. This is a powerful beer, but with the alcohol well disguised; caution required! Guinnessman (80), VACAVILLE, California, USA Oct 5, 2008 750 ml bottle. Dark color with strong caramel smell. Heavy malt flavor that finishes smooth. Went great with a slice of pesto brie cheese. afireinside96 (494), Mountville, Pennsylvania, USA Oct 5, 2008 From a bottle at the KSBF ’08. Hazy dark gold with a small head. Candy dominates but there is a nice maltiness and some light spice as well. Very good. DrSamPHD (17), Baton Rouge, Louisiana, USA Oct 1, 2008 Had it off a tap. My taste buds went crazy upon consuming this one. Orange color with a strong taste of alcohol. Not for me but i would recommend it to some of my friends. (Had it at Chimes Bar) doubleo (825), San Diego, California, USA Sep 29, 2008 330ml bottle, marked best before 11/2010. Slight gusher. Pours hazy amber with a large, fizzy, offwhite head, decent retention, good lace. Smells sweet malty and bready, spicy sweet. Tastes sweet and malty bready spicy. Lots of spice on the finish, a little pepper and some warming alcohol. Full body, fizzy carbonation that fades relatively quickly.
