3.5 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 Kestral (487) - Årnes, NORWAY - JUN 7, 2011
Tap@Grünerløkka. Clear golden yellow with a massive, rocky mountain of white head, a veritable cobweb of lace. Aroma has got this wonderful sweet fruitiness, apricots and some banana, a bit of lemon, canned fruit syrup and belgo yeast. Some alcohol comes into the mix when it warms up a bit. Flavourwise it’s a clean and friendly thing. A mild sweetness turns into a clean bitter, slightly astringent finish. A hint of acidity. Light, almost thin bodied, with soft yet lively carbonation. As a whole, it’s pretty good. Easy drinkin’. It just doesn’t live up to the splendid aroma and appearance.
3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 ClubGonzo (1736) - Bergen, NORWAY - JUN 3, 2011
Bottle. Pours a hazy deep honey-colored body with a big, cloudy off-white head. Nose is Belgian yeast, straw and hints of light candy sugars. Taste is light candy sugars, dry bitter hops, straw and pale malts. Smooth and yet assertive blend. Very bitter finish, which seems to be the Maredsous palate signature. A nice Belgian blond who dares to be different.

Pours a clear dark copper colour with a small white foamy head. Aroma of mild dried fruits and syrup. Flavour of sweet dried fruits, caramel, nuts and mild citrus. Medium bodied with a slick mouthfeel and a dry, nutty finish. Not very refreshing.

Bottle. A light golden colour with a creamy white head. A lot of fruit and yeast in the aroma. The taste is a little sweet at first but gets dry at the end. It is a very nice, refreshing beer. This is a very nice Belgian Ale.
3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 chriso (7062) - London, Greater London, ENGLAND - MAY 11, 2011
On tap at Café Belgique, Amsterdam on 9 April 2011. Amazed to find I’d not reviewed this before. Clear gold colour. Rather grainy aroma with a little herb / spice. Quite fruity on the palate. Rather sweet for my taste and without too much in the way of relieving hop presence. Clean but not that exciting. Not really my sort of beer to be honest - easy drinking but lacks bite. Middle of the road.
2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 onlyrocknroll (365) - Antwerp, BELGIUM - APR 30, 2011
Bright orange, hazy with a small to medium head. The aroma is too subdued, Bitter, some balancing caramel sweetness. Soft flavour, gentle malt, floral and a lot duller than I expected. Medium body. I’m quite disappointed overall.
