Bottle. Poured cloudy amber color with an average to large frothy off-white head that mostly lasted with excellent lacing. Moderate tart fruit and yeast aroma. Medium to full body with a smooth texture with soft carbonation. Medium fruit sweet flavor with a medium sweet finish of moderate duration. Very interesting beer.

Bottle: Light amber coloured, hazy, rocky off-white head, mid-sized and sticking to the glass; fruity (bananas) and grainy/malty nose with traces of caramel and honey; initial sweet and mild maltiness; slightly bitter, dry flavour; light dry and a bit tart finish; quite well hidden alcohol, medium bodied, creamy mouthfeel. No sensation, but a very decent brew.....echt lekker!

A Mes rate:
Draught at Lowlander. Amazed this has not been done before. One of those that has slipped under the radar. Still have quite a soft spot for this as it was one of the beers that turned me on to a more discerning approach to my drinking. Nothing particularly stunning about it however. Amber gold colour with a slight haze. Caramel and some nice grassy hops with a sweet peachy note. Dry and clean in the mouth. Very drinkable if a little dull.

On tap at Café Belgique, Amsterdam on 9 April 2011. Amazed to find I’d not reviewed this before. Clear gold colour. Rather grainy aroma with a little herb / spice. Quite fruity on the palate. Rather sweet for my taste and without too much in the way of relieving hop presence. Clean but not that exciting. Not really my sort of beer to be honest - easy drinking but lacks bite. Middle of the road.

Mild herb-malziger Antrunk. Wenig würzig, weiter herb, zusätzlich deutlich nussig, was sich im Abgang verstärkt. Etwas hefig, herber und etwas bitter im Abgang, zuletzt erneut nussig. Angedeutet alkoholisch.

3.5 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 Lubiere (7003) - Ottawa, Ontario, CANADA - DEC 11, 2005
On tap at the Mardsous Abbey, April 2005. Golden ale with a white head, thick and froathy. Aroma of candy sugar, ornages and spices. A lighter variety than remembered, but with hops and light alcohol coming nicely, fresh and coriander coming out more with the Maredsous cheese tartinade. Memories!

11.3 oz bottle at the Bier Markt, Toronto. pale amber beer, thick white head. Aroma is quite fruity with a bit of soft caramel throughout. Light dried fruit (apricots and peaches). A bit of chewy sweetness. A decent brew, but not great.
3.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 JorisPPattyn (6747) - Antwerpen, BELGIUM - JUL 14, 2003
More amber-orange as blond. Very abundant white to cream-coloured head, going down lacey. Nose of candi sugar, caramel, herbal. Light bitterish taste, and very grainy character at the same time. A bit tart - not hoppy. Whiff of mushroom/fungae. Light, but not watery mouthfeel. No stickyness or alcohol. Little aftertaste. This is a very delicate flavourprofile. My objection is that it misses hops. Give it a hopkick and you'll end with a Belgian equivalent of a nice bottle-conditioned best bitter.
