DaMenace123 (250), Houston, Texas, USA Feb 21, 2007 Dark amber pour with big tan head, leaved lots of lacing. Aroma is fruit, yeast and malt. Flavor is the same with a creamy mouthfeel. Very good. pineypower (1076), Pine Barrens, New Jersey, USA Feb 19, 2007 Tap at BXL New York...Pours out a ruby brown color with a medium sized off whit head. Aroma was of dried fruit, yeast and some malt. Nice complex flavor with sweet malts, dried fruit and some spice. Slight alcohol on the finish. Solid beer andyhite (290), Murfreesboro, Tennessee, USA Feb 19, 2007 750ml bottle. deep amber, clear pour with a bi bubbly head. scents of hops, oak, and herbs. tastes hoppy and sligtly bitter. nice spicy finish. good flavor, just not as much of it as i was hoping for. dmac (1418), Toms River, New Jersey, USA Feb 19, 2007 Updated: Aug 7, 2008Clear deep reddish brown with a huge rocky light brown head. The head on this one was very impressive not only with it’s lacing but also with it’s staying quality and how easily a few swirls in my Duvel tulip easily aroused another large frothy head. Aroma was loaded with sweetness, candi sugar, licorice and dark fruits. Flavor was nice and complex, much stronger then the aroma also, with lots of dark fruit(prunes, plum, raisins), dates, brown bread and some tropical fruit as well. Palate was medium bodied with a slightly watery feel and a good dose of alcohol warming for only an 8% beer. Solid enjoyable beer my only disappointment was that I had already rated this so all I could do was re-rate it. cyanescens (156), Seattle, Washington, USA Feb 16, 2007 Its a decent belgian ale. Nothing too out there going on, drinkable. Yeastiness, bitterness, and maltiness are fairly balanced. Body is medium. Padron4KM (400), Chandler, Arizona, USA Feb 8, 2007 Short stubby brown bottle. Best before Jan 2007.
Murky dark chestnut, with a thin tan head.
Aroma is raisin, chocolate and yeast.
Flavor is a little sweet caramel, a little dry yeastiness, and a slight bitter finish.
Average. I’ll give it some leeway because it was past it’s BB date, but I’ve had other Belgian beers past their date that were much better.
aenimopiate (142), The United States of Texas, Texas, USA Feb 3, 2007 I sensed the presence of "dark" fruits, but it may be a bias due to the dark color of this beer. It wasn’t my favorite belgian ale, but it’ll do in a pinch. This beer hides the alcohol well, butit will sneak up on you if you’re not careful. eyesandsmiles (179), Mission Viejo, California, USA Feb 3, 2007 Updated: Apr 17, 2007Its not as strong as it might be but doesn’t suffer much because of this. Its very pretty with a nice head and nice little biting aftertaste.
