1.5 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 3/20
500ml brown bottle, labelled Old Ox 6.9% ABV, poured into a lager glass. Appearance is clear light golden with a large frothy white head that reduced rapidly. Aroma of wheat bread, maize, hay and alcohol. Flavours of wheat bread, alcohol, processed sugar and a hint of caramel. Taste is light sweet and light bitter. Palate is thin bodied, slightly oily texture and average carbonation. Old Ox is a surprisingly poor brew considering that Mariestads Export is an okay lager. Unpleasant flavour dominated by alcohol. A 500ml bottle is too much, difficult to drink and when the beer warms up it gets significantly worse.

2 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 7/20
Aroma; hops and malts, some alcoholic fragrances.
Golden body, diminishing white head, some lacings.
Taste; spicy caramellic malts, grassy hops, very few bitter herbs.
Slightly dry on palate. Finishes with bread, sour syrup, warming alcohol in the background, a little grainy bitterness.
The brewery describes this beer as "bocköl", but I consider that Ratebeer is correct that this beer is "Strong Pale Lager".
