Egon (269), Gothenburg, Sweden Feb 13, 2008 Bottle. Dark brown with beige head. Had this one on the attic for a while and it might been improved. A bit dry, chocolate aroma. Thin but better than most with the Mariestads brand. The aftertaste is a bit dry, low on hops. Not bad overall. It might win more on storage.

Dark red porter with a very small head. Aroma is of roasted malt, coffee a little hoppy. The flavour is lightly sweet and quite burned with some bitterness. Quite light but not bad. mikkopen (90), Oulu, Finland Jul 4, 2008 330 ml bottle. Dark brown colour, thin light brown head. Roasted malts and coffee in the aroma. Thin mouthfeel. Sweet, burned flavour with coffee and dark chocolate. Easy to drink but not particularly good. Todeon (145), Höllviken, Sweden Jun 15, 2008 Bottle from systembolaget. Brown/Black color. Nice chocolate and coffee taste with some roasted notes in there two. The mouthfeel is a bit thin. Tranquillity (1027), Espoo, Finland Jun 10, 2008 Bottled, 2008. Dark brown, thick small-bubbled beige head descending quickly. Good, chocolate mud-cake aroma with burntness. The taste is surprisingly harsh when cold! It bites (?). Ah, what a pleasant surprise! Very oily, tar and charcoal might describe the taste somehow. Not the typical porter I’d say. Svesse (1499), Hässelby, Sweden Jun 1, 2008 (Bottle) Dark brown colour, almost black, with frothy lasting pale brown head. Roasted, malty nose with dark rye bread, dark chocolate and cocoa powder. Roasted, almost burnt, malty taste with dark chocolate, dark rye bread, prunes and cocoa bitterness in the finish. Tasty, with rather heavy roasted flavours. Might age well. Nice beer.
