shigadeyo (1370), Southwest Ohio Area, Ohio, USA Aug 14, 2007 7/21/2007: Marietta Paw Paw Wheat is hazy and golden yellow in color with a creamy white head. The aroma and flavor are acidic with something similar to that of fermenting apples. There is also some vague fruitiness throughout the flavor that becomes even more noticeable when warmer. This beer actually feels medium to medium-full in the mouth and creamy and smooth on the palate. This is definitely a unique and interesting fruit beer that I found to be quite different and enjoyable.
Draught sample at Boogie on the Bricks in Athens, Ohio during the Ohio Brew Week 2007. Rating #2 for this beer...
dkoonce (750), People’s Republic of Athens, Ohio, USA Feb 22, 2007 Special brew only available at Casa Neuava in Athens. Menu description claims to be brewed from locally grown paw paw fruit. The waitress warned me that the alcohol level was high and I guess that it is in the 6-7% range
Light and clear, with no head and no sign of carbonation. This beer has a sweet white/fruit wine aroma. Body is medium and a bit sweet. But, the flavor is unique, the flavor is fruity, like juicy fruit gum.
