2.4 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 9/20
Opaque black with a thin light brown head and no lace. Fruit is noticeable in the aroma, and shows again in the taste - candied mincemeat and prunes and raisens. It nearly works, but falls short with an odd bitter overtone as it moves through the palate - seems like cough syrup with a bad aftertaste (plus no alcohol warmth). Seems like it ought to be better.

3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Poured on draft at the brewpub. Pours a pretty dark brown with a light khaki head that dissipates quickly. The aroma is faintly fruity, but dominated by roast and dark chocolate. The taste is heavily malty on the tongue with a soft acidity in the finish. Nice offering.
