AleDrinker (1073), Sunnyvale, California, USA Mar 5, 2005 Pours brown/amber with thin head. Aroma is a bit sour with vinegar and some carmel malt showing through. Bleeeech. I hate that taste. I got a bad bottle. All I taste is awful metallic sourness. I hate to do it but I gotta dump this one. And I usually get such good quality from Marin.
Brewsmith (81), Torrance, California, USA Nov 21, 2008 From a 22 oz. bottle purchased locally.
Amber with a slight red hint to it. Puffy light tan head. A slight haze to it.
Aroma is fruity with a slight floral character. Slightly musty in the background.
Taste is "old bottle been in the warm truck and warehouse too long before being placed on the store shelf with fluorescent lighting for even longer" It’s the lemon iced-tea flavor I’ve found before in many a pale ale, amber, red and other big hops/big malt beers. Too bad.
Medium bodied and smooth carbonation but with a sharp acidic bite to the finish.
If this beer was in good shape I’d beet it would be pretty tasty. Too many good beers are ruined between the brewery and the glass. trokini (941), San Diego, California, USA Oct 20, 2008 Updated: Oct 27, 2008Pours clear copper with an average white head. Average malt and hop aroma, sweeter mroe than citrus, but a bit of both. Taste was average. Caramel malt, on the watery side, grapefruit and oranges inthe hops, with a big caramel and brown sugar finish. Not great, not bad, just average. Sledge Jr (2721), Omaha, Nebraska, USA May 26, 2008 In the bottle from HyVee CB. Pours a dark reddish amber- nearly brown with a large yellow-beige head. Strong roasted nut aroma. Fig flavors blend into a mild malty palate. Finishes with the scent-inspired nuttiness. Very malty body. Excellent rings of lacing form. No infection in my bottle as mentioned recently by others. rayOfBeer (271), El Cerrito, California, USA May 21, 2008 Poured from tap at Marin brewing a clear brown with medium beige head with low carbonation. Soft aroma of toast, malt and a little floral fruitiness. Flavor is apricot, sweet caramel, toast, malt, with some fresh hops coming out in the aftertaste. This beer has a big malty feel to it with very little bitterness. Overall a nice amber. I would drink this one again. beachbum25 (625), Powellville, Maryland, USA Apr 12, 2008 22 oz bomber-trade w/snojerk321 (I think!)-pours a cloudy amber color w/a big, foamy head & good lacing. Roasted malt aroma. Full malt flavor w/roasted nuts, toffee, dark fruit, & caramel. Kind of a sweet flavor to it. Easy drinking, sesson type brew, very smooth. Somewhat bitter finish; no trace of hops at all.
