COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Marin Brewing Company is proud to announce the release of a very special and very limited brew,"Cuvee Roge." Named after our longtime manager/bartender, Roge, this beer has been several years in the making. Cuvee Roge is an American Sour Ale inspired by the Gueze Lambics produced near Brussels in Belgium. Cuvee Roge is a blend of brews, some 1 year old, & some 3 1/2 years old. Both were aged in the same special Chardonnay barrel with a variety of "bugs" (microorganisms) commonly thought to be beer "spoilers." One month ago we blended & bottled the Cuvee, adding sugar & fresh yeast to create a bottle conditioned product. Only 264 champagne style bottles, 750mL each, were produced which will only be available at Marin Brewing Company, & only for on-premise consumption. Cuvee Roge is a refreshing & moderately sour beer with a complex array of aromas & flavors ranging from citrus to barnyard with wine-like qualities & a dry, nutty finish.

Draft to taster at the brewpub. Looks solid; a slightly hazy golden orange with white lacing. Smells moderately tart with mild notes of biscuit and lemon. Tastes like it smells with a pleasantly lactic mouthfeel. Enjoyable, but nothing like geuze (which it’s apparently inspired by).

Sample on tap at the brewpub. Clear gold pour with thin white head. Aroma is funky, lightly cheesy, fruity white wine notes. Taste is tart, light lactic flavor, very light acetic, but very acceptable levels. Palate is med bodied, med carbonation. Good.

Hazy golden and quite foamy look. Has a vegetal aroma, vegamite like, and belgian spice box with a malted and cereal backbone. Soured flavours and tropical fruits, woodsy finish and a bit leesy. a super complex brew with layers and structure. very nice.

Hazy golden pour with a nearly white head that’s short lived. Lots of funk, spice, wood and fruit on the nose. Nicely sour all the way through the palate with a real wine note and well defined wood.

Bottled. An unclear golden beer with a yellowish head. The aroma has notes of citrusy hops, vinegar, and wood. The flavor is lightly acidic with notes of lemon, malt, and wood, leading to a tart finish. The acidity burns lightly in the throat.

Sampled during RBSG 7/11/2009. This sour ale pours a light gold color from a 375ml(?) bottle. Small to medium sized white foamy head. The aroma is fruity and sweet, with a touch of funk. A medium bodied sour ale. The malts are fruity and sweet, with a touch of funk. The hops are grapefruity. Nice balance. Good carbonation. Nice dry and funky finish. Mouthfeel is full and round. Finish is clean, crisp and dry. Aftertaste is slightly bitter and funky.
