Lothore (226), California, USA Jun 23, 2008 Updated: Jun 24, 2008 Seemed to be the perfect brew to consume after a 53 mile ride.
A- Looks absolutely perfect for a DIPA. Deep orange with a thick, chewy, 2 finger head which leaves lacing as it falls. Crystal Clear.
S- Smell is very resiny and piney. Definitely a kick of hops to the face. Distinct freshly baked bread sweetness in the end.
T- Taste starts off with the bready sweetness and a wave of piney hops rushes over the palate and transitions into a strong bitter hoppiness.
M- Thick and chewy with medium to low amount of carbonation.
D- I really want to try a fresher bottle of this but this was a treat. Very balanced for the style.
golubj (1034), Redwood City, California, USA Oct 5, 2008 Bottle. Amber pour with a thin white head. Aroma is citrusy, and resinous / earthy. Sweet malt and citrus in the initial flavor, with a pretty decent amount of resinous hops also. Medium-high amount of bitterness. Oily mouthfeel and finish. MI2CA (1101), Noblesville, Indiana, USA Sep 29, 2008 Sample at J Gumbos Aug 2008 Indy tasting - Aroma of flowery hops and caramel malt. Flavor is more citrus but still flowery hops. Caramel and cardboard (age?). Palate is tart. Tasty, but pales at a tasting with so many other great DIPA’s. maniac (2022), Richmond, Virginia, USA Sep 27, 2008 Bottle at RBSG2008 Grand Tasting on 08/02/2008. Clear copper body with a small off-white head. Big citrus and caramel aroma. Huge citrus flavor, light resiny notes. Medium full body with moderate carbonation. iowaherkeye (1413), relocated to Santa Rosa f/Iowa, California, USA Sep 22, 2008 22oz bottle, no date from Bottle Barn. Clear medium gold with a one finger off-white head, fading to a thin film and thick ring. Wonderful nose of citrus, resiny pine, juicy pineapple, and grassy hops. Cotton candy and clean cystal malts make up the background, but the hops truly shine here. Flavor is a bit more pine than the aroma led on, but it still has plenty of the aforementioned aromas as well. Bitterness peaked at a 6-7 in the semi-dry finish. Light warming alcohol is present in the back of my throat. Full body with moderate carbonation.Glad I got a fresh bottle--this was awesome! Also, it was 1/2 the price of Dreadnaught, and damn fine. 3F you anger me! Theis (2212), Frederiksberg, Denmark Sep 9, 2008 Bottle at Sune’s (Thanks). Clear amber - white head. Pineapples, cactus, cookies, knækbrød, light malty, light sweetness. Fucking good.
