4.1 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 dmschefke (560) - Macomb, Michigan, USA - MAY 22, 2009Pours a hazy orange with thick white head, laces well in my tulip glass. Aroma of citrus hops, a bit more floral hops than I prefer, but not overdone, pine, and a strong grass. Flavor matches pretty well and gives that nice kick, with a bit of sweetness. Very solid IIPA, thanks cloudskipper!

On tap at the brewery. Aroma is fantastic, floral and fruit hops. Nice head, great lacing, very clear orange colour. Flavour is also delicious. Very hoppy! Finishes thick and oily. Slightly dry. This is a fantastic IIPA

4.3 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20 umich03jm (985) - Allen Park, Michigan, USA - JUN 1, 2013
Bomber sent to me from Randy in Arizona. Pours a slightly cloudy amber-orange color with a small foamy head that lingers a bit, leaves a little webbing. Aroma is great. Musty, wet grass, pine, mandarin oranges, tropical fruit, flowers, and light caramel. Taste has a complex hop taste as well mixed with a nice caramel malt backbone. At times, it tastes like caramel covered fruit. Tropical fruit stands out the most here but lots of oranges, pine, and flowers too. Moderate sweetness with a very strong bitterness, especially in the finish. Very oily mouthfeel which I love, medium to thick body. I wish there was a bit less bitterness, it overpowers at times. But it’s still a great DIPA, would love to trade for more.
3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 PhillyCraft (2119) - Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA - MAY 10, 2013
Bottle, copper color with medium white head, notes of booze, heavy malt, almost peat, tons of fire for 8 percent. Flavors of Caramel malts, pine, cherry, and spicy hops. I don’t know if this was old or just boozey. Very oily palate. Kind of like double simcoe but sweeter and more heat.
4.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20 mikedR (410) - Gilbert, Arizona, USA - APR 17, 2013
Beautiful imperial. Deep copper colored pour with a slightly off-white head. Floral aroma is abundant and inviting. Taste is superb: malty backbone giving way to hoppiness: bitter, but balanced, with pine hop notes and just the right amount of resin for taste and mouthfeel -- no unwelcoming aftertaste, either. The Marin folks are doing it right; recommended!

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 Glouglouburp (5619) - Montreal, Quebec, CANADA - MAR 15, 2013
In short: A caramelized and resinous fruity/piney big IPA. A typical American Double IPA of superior quality. Very good.
How: Bottle 22oz. consumed very fresh, a week or two after being purchase directly at the brewpub. Tasting session with Montreal friends.
The look: Clear dark golden topped by a very small beige head.
In long: Nose is bursting with fruity resinous hops, some piney notes and some caramel hiding in the back. Taste has a lot of very toasted caramelized malts, bread crust covered by caramel, medium sweetness sensation. Simple but very effective malt backbone. Then comes of the hops, and then some more, citrusy and a bit piney, very resinous, bitterness level is quite high. Supposed to be the same beer has Marin I.P.A. double everything, I don’t doubt that it is the case but I found the White Knuckle to be much more resinous and sticky than its little sister. A superior Double IPA nonetheless but I slightly preferred smaller regular IPA. A very nice IPA shared at beer tasting with other beer enthusiats, before joining ratebeer I thought beer geeks were just as pathetic as Trekkies, but this has all changed since I joined ratebeer and became part of the community, no longer do I think beer geeks are as pathetic as Trekkies, I am now convinced we are.

Pours a amber orange with a one finger off white head and some nice lacing. Aroma is of citrus peels, resinous pine, weed, tropical fruits, and some sweet malts. Taste is of juicy citrus, pine, tropical fruits, fresh cut grass, weed, sweet malts, and a little caramel malt. Has a medium-full body with super creamy, oily, chewy mouthfeel and a dry, effervescent, bitter, long, refreshing finish. Overall, a excellent, well balanced DIPA.

On tap at Best of the Bay. Aroma and flavor is full hop without the bitterness...Cuties, oranges, and sugared Meyer lemon. Really impressed by this, especially since I've seen bottles about a hundred times. Great beer.
