A strong ale which has a deep amber color. The bouquet and aroma is full and fruity, with a smooth, round and vinous taste.

Bottle shared by alexsdad06. Poured clear ruby color with a moderate frothy off-white head that mostly lasted with good lacing. Moderate to heavy dark fruit, earthy hop aroma. Medium to full body with a smooth texture and flat carbonation. Moderate to heavy dark fruit bittersweet flavor with a medium to heavy bittersweet finish of moderate to long duration. This is a solid complex beer.

clear dark brown, smooth offwhite head. rathier mild old ale aroma, slight fruitiness, some malts. flavor is very dry dark caramelly, normal to sweet malty, faint dark chocolate, faint cristmas spicy note. Also a flavor like the dark fruits in a belgian quad. Raisins, plums. A barley wine with a flavor profile that resembles brown ale a bit, but also lends from other heavy brews (except the roasted ones), pretty complex and quite tasty. I’d put it down as an american strong ale instead of barley wine. The hop profile is very subdued, and doesn’t add much flowers and even not much bitterness for an american brew.

Bottle [22oz] shared with HogTownHarry & garthicus -- c/o HogTownHarry. Pours a dark amber-brown with an average size semi-lasting frothy beige head. Nice fruity aroma along with caramel malt, some chocolate, toffee, wood, spices, alcohol and more. Flavour of dark fruit, slightly sweet and malty, along with yeast and light hops. For a 9% beer the alcohol is quite well hidden. Medium bodied. This is very good stuff!

22oz bottle shared with blankboy and garthicus. Deep ruby pour, looks thick, average frothy tan head. Solid caramel malt toastiness, plenty of alcohol, waves of green grassy/resin bitterness - yummm. Taste - all that, but hot DAMN, raisin/prune and way more sweet tastly malt. Love it. Thick, a bit acidic, strong alcohol, frothy and airy, a long boozy/malty/fruity finish. Different, I really like it.

Bottle at Jan & Charlottes tasting, Ulfborg, Denmark 09.04.11 cheers Jan & Charlotte Murky chestnut brown with a light beige head which soon disappears. Some fruit n the nose, heavy sweetness and a bit harsh in the mouth. Bittersweetness coming through, not as smooth or as rounded as the deScription suggest. A5 A3 T6 P3 Ov11 2.8

Bomber purchased a year ago at Holiday Wine Cellar ($5.49). Pours a dark brown with bits of red and two fingers of fluffy light brown head. Aroma of figs, raisins, and other sticky overripe (even rotting) dark fruit, caramel, molasses, a hint of booze, and perhaps some faded hops. Flavor also of sticky dark fruit, berries, toffee, and some spice; also some roasted malt notes emerging late. Surprisingly, this is far from being overly sweet, and the sweetness actually fades into the finish. Nice English-style barley wine. (188, 518)
