A strong ale which has a deep amber color. The bouquet and aroma is full and fruity, with a smooth, round and vinous taste.

Reddish brown in color with an off white head that had some good lacing to it. Rasins and malts mainly in the aroma but with some subtle fruit notes as well. Alcohol was present but there were also the raisins from the nose. Also got some sweetness in there as well. Pretty good over all.

22oz bottle poured into snifter. Color is dark brown with minimal head. Aroma is of sweet malts and some hops come through at the end. Mouth feel is smooth with light carbonation. Flavor is sweet malts with a slightly hot finish. Decent bwine.

Dark brown color with thick head. Robust floral bouquet mixed with with strong and sweet malty aroma. Taste of raisins, port, fresh bread with plenty of hops at the end to balance out the strong alcohol.

On tap at Toronado’s 2008 Barleywine Festival. This was surprisingly dark brownish-red with a thick golden-tinted head. Aromas were very sweet and malty with of course an assault of spicy, fruity hops. Malt dominated the flavors initially, with loads of sweet caramel, brown sugar, ripe apples... finishing up with the bitter citrus/grapefruit rind quality of the hops. Sugary soft and syrupy mouthfeel but finished very astringent.

Bomber. Reddish amber body, clear, creamy offwhite ring of steadfast head, no lace. Malty aroma with dark fruits, roasted malts and alcohol notes. Full and thick, somewhat sticky, little carbonation, yet dries surprisingly well on finish. Roasted malt throughout with dark fruits and a surprising noble-hop profile that you might expect in a robust pilsner. Light woody character on finish. Lots of mild hops.

One of the more enjoyable barleywines consumed on the night of Rob’s fantastic barleywine tasting. A nice way to break the Lenten fast. Nice mahogany hue with notes of toffee and bacon fat on the nose. Vicose, fruity (orange peel, citron, dried cherry) and a nice lingering hop finish. Well done.

Pours a clear reddish brown with off white head. Aroma of dark fruit, caramel malt, booze. Similar taste.

Very sweet aroma, almost sickeningly so. Nice dark coloring, combining almost no head with a very nice mahogony color. Very sweet flavor, much more than I was expecting. Doesn’t show the alcohol, which is nice, but the flavor is a little overpowering for me. Doesn’t really compare with the Full Sail barleywine.

Pours brown/amber. Aromas of dried fruit and alcohol. Fruity up front, lots of figs and hints of citrus. Hops not prevalent, but there. Alcohol and finishing bitterness tingle the tongue.

The aroma had coriander and dark fermented fruit, and caramel. The flavor had the same. The beer poured a reddish brown color w/ no head and lacing. The mouthfeel was medium bodied and creamy.
