clear dark brown, smooth offwhite head. rathier mild old ale aroma, slight fruitiness, some malts. flavor is very dry dark caramelly, normal to sweet malty, faint dark chocolate, faint cristmas spicy note. Also a flavor like the dark fruits in a belgian quad. Raisins, plums. A barley wine with a flavor profile that resembles brown ale a bit, but also lends from other heavy brews (except the roasted ones), pretty complex and quite tasty. I’d put it down as an american strong ale instead of barley wine. The hop profile is very subdued, and doesn’t add much flowers and even not much bitterness for an american brew.

Bomber poured a hazy brown with a small lasting amber head. Aromas of brown sugar, dark fruit and hints of carmel and toffee. Palate was medium bodied and smooth. Flavors of maltiness, toffee, light molasses and a hint of dark fruit with a lingering semisweet finish.

fair amount of oxidation showing up in the flavor and aroma but still quite viable, lots of rich brown sugar sweetness, plenty of fruity sweetness,

Bottle… Mostly clear blood orange ale with no head. Very malty, biscuit nose – toffee and Luden’s honey cough drops. Full-bodied with a very creamy mouthfeel and modest carbonation. Gooey, sweet blend of caramel, honey and toffee. Subtle hops. Lengthy malty finish. Kudos to Beerlando for sharing the bottle!

Bottle shared by someone at "Drink for Charity" event at Rattle N Hum. Deep brown beer with heavy garnet highlights. Sweet caramel and rich chewy sweet fruits. Rich sweet hoppiness, light caramel and brown sugar. Intensely sweet chewy maltiness and a sticky resiny finish. Lightly hoppy and piny with a lingering fruitiness. Classic Californian barleywine, and a fine example at that.
