[Compared with a Sierra Nevada Porter]
The Sierra has a much more fruity nose compared to the chocolate Point Reyes. Guess that indicates it all: the Point Reyes is a chocalaty-rich dessert and the Sierra is another fantastic one, but very hopped.

| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Jan 5, 2010 Plenty of chocolate in the nose with some underlying roasted malt character. Almost opaque dark brown body with ruby highlights topped by a tan-brown, fine bubbled head that lasts well. Sweet chocolate flavours play off roasted and fruity notes in the flavour. Medium body is velvety smooth in texture with light prickly effervescence to offer counterpoint. Overall, quite an enjoyable porter. Tulip glass. Cellar temperature. Bottle purchased at Brewery Creek in Fall 2009. Delirium (502), Santa Cruz, California, USA

Aroma is sweet malt, with some chocolate and roast. Flavor is heavily roasted malt, chocolate with a little sweetness, and bit of acidity from the roasted/burnt malt. Velvety mouthfeel. Pretty solid. alexanderj (2294), Chino Hills, California, USA

| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Nov 14, 2009 Pours very dark with a thin tan head. Nose was subdued with a little roasted malt evident. Taste was more complex than expected. Nice roasted coffee notes with dark chocolate undertones as well as a dry slightly sweet finish. Very good. MrRoss (617), Delta, British Columbia, Canada
| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 5/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Nov 4, 2009 From Firefly. Poured seriously dark, almost black, beneath a creamy tan head of no great thickness; this did not stay very long. Not a lot for the nose here, maybe some roasted malt. Taste was delicious, with coffee, the malt, and perhaps dark chocolate at play. Nice dry finish. mrhoppy (228), Santa Clara, California, USA
