Pours black with a small tan head, no lacing. Aroma of roasted malts, roasted coffee, dark fruit and chocolate. Taste of roasted coffee, dark malts, grainy with a mile bitterness in the finish. Very nice, roasty.

(Bottle) Pours black with a creamy, pale brown head. The aroma holds earthy dark fruits (raisins and plums), and earthy/bitter cocoa up front with undertones of liquorice, coffee, milk, roasted nuts, oat meal, caramelized cookies, fudge, vanilla, chalk, burned wood, earthy/grassy hops, whisper of dark bread and a touch of smoke. Balanced malt profile and subtle hops. The flavor is light to medium sweet and light to medium bitter with notes of balanced roast (a tad burned), milk, earth, hints of dark fruits and subtle hops. Good, but some complexity is missing if you as me. The mouthfeel is soft, clean and light creamy/velvety with a near medium carbonation. The finish is light watery, light earthy from the hops and light tart from the roast. Medium bodied.

22 oz. bottle via BA trade. Didnít want to sit on this one any longer; been about 6-7 months. Pours an opaque coffee brown with a tan ring for a head. Smooth, rich, and roasty on the nose, with dark chocolate, coffee, roasted and toasted malts, tobacco, and molasses. The flavor is pretty much the same with a little more leafy and earthy character late. Medium-bodied, with a roasty, earthy mouthfeel and moderate carbonation. Really nice stout.

Poured from a draft into a pint glass at Hamiltonís Tavern in North Park, San Diego, Calif. A finger of head once I got it. Color was black. Brownish tan caramel lacing. Decent retention. Smelled of coffee, dark chocolate, light caramel and toffee. Tasted coffee, coffee beans, toffee and dark caramel. Good mix of tastes. Full body. Creamy texture. Average carbonation. Long smooth finish. Good and balanced stout. Iíd have it again for sure.

On tap at Brix in Sunset Beach. Beer was black in the glass with a medium head. Aroma was coffee and chocolate with a hint of vanilla. First think I noticed in the taste was the chocolate. It was about as big a cocoa flavor as Iíve had with any beer. Coffee and some roasted fruits were in the finish. Extremely silky and smooth. Easily one of my favorite beers.

On tap at the Hungry Monk for Stouts, Steaks and Pancakes night. A nice black pour and a great representation of the Irish dry stout. Very roasty and very good.

UPDATED: JAN 1, 2014 Tap at Marin. Very dark pour with a white/gray head that leaves some lacing. Mostly roasted malts in this, but there are hints of chocolate. Nice stout.

Pint at brewpub. Ok aroma, sweet and roasty. Chocolate, coffee. Blackish brown color. Ok head faded.quick, minor lace. Bittersweet flavor. Medium body, smooth creamy mouthfeel, Bittersweet finish. Good, easy to drink stout, especially for 7%. Flavor best part. Chocolate coffee thing.
