Delirium (428), Santa Cruz, California, USA Jul 9, 2008 Bomber. Pours slightly cloudy dark gold with a moderate-sized frothy head that dissipates. Aroma is sweet and somewhat spicy, with light candied fruits (esp. pineapple), a bit of yeast, bread, pepper, cloves, and hint of floral hops. Flavor is light and sweet, with butterscotch, some muted yeast, and light fruits (pineapple, orange, mango?), with some floral and cardboard hops in the finish. Light and somewhat astringent mouthfeel; alcohol barely noticeable. An interesting beer. Lighter and more subdued than most tripels, and slightly too candied-fruit sweet, but reasonably complex and pleasant all the same.
DarkMagus (412), San Jose, California, USA Jul 29, 2008 Pours a golden-amber color with a nice-looking frothy/sticky white head. Aromas are fairly light, on the grainy side with some hint of the sweet fruity estery qualities. Flavors were very sugary and floral, pretty strong on the alcohol side... no trace of bitterness. Mouthfeel was very syrupy and... along with the alcoholic "heat", made for a pretty intense brew. The alcohol does linger on for quite awhile, and I’m not sure if this beer is tasty enough to justify that. Pretty one-dimensional. Ale_Drinker (1066), Sunnyvale, California, USA Jul 28, 2008 Pours golden with thin head. Aroma is full of yeasty esters. Full bodied and sweet. Not bad. hapjydeuce (558), Carlsbad, California, USA Jul 16, 2008 Bottled. Clear light amber color that pours with a fine white film and adequate carbonation. Mildly fruity aroma with a nose of clove, poached pear with lime, and white bread. Not a very balanced flavor that starts sweet and ends quickly with minimal bitterness and no linger at all. Simple, one-dimensional and uninviting after a half-bottle. Whatever. rayOfBeer (226), El Cerrito, California, USA Jul 13, 2008 Poured from tap at Marin Brew Breast Fest an Amber with medium white head. Aroma was light with toasted oats and hay. Flavor also had the toasted oats and hay with a lingering candy sweetness and some barnyard blanket funk. Very little carbonation to this one. I didn’t find it very tripel-like. Not one I’d get again. steview (746), Oceanside, California, USA Jul 12, 2008 bottle... moderate aroma: hoppy, lemon; yeasty, horse blanket, cheese... light spice... moderately bittersweet flavor... medium body... creamy, sometimes syrupy texture... soft carbonation... average finish... i like it :o)
