Keg at The Marina. Pours a dark Brown with a Reddish hue and a resilient off-white head. Chocolate nose with coffee and chocolate powder on the flavour. A little syrupy sweetness. The most remarkable thing about it was that it was virtually uncarbonated which made it feel a bit like an ale. Light bitter finish. The best of the bunch without any shadow of a doubt.

Tap at the brewery. Classic Czech tmavy with dark czech caramel, roasted coffeeish notes, balanced caramelly sweetness with roasted bitterness. Good but nothing special.

Nieco jaśniejszy niż coca-cola i raczej klarowny. Mocno karmelowe, słodkie i przez to płaskie. Problem w tym, że nic ponad to. Do wypicia i zapomnienia.

Keg at the brewpub, Prague Day 2 of Fergus and Sarah’s Czech jaunt. 30/09/14. Clear caramel / mahogany brown coloured pour with a thin cream head. Aroma is nutty earthy malts, hint of choc. Flavour is composed of nutty, little berry, choc, woodland berries. Semi-sweet but finishes out nicely. Palate is fullish body, finishish semi dry,

Average dark beer with small average brewery Marina Prague. It is not so bad taste for conservative czech drinkers :-)

On tap at brewpub 10.12.14. Dark amber. Foamy beige head and lacing. Moderate aroma of Czech hops. Wonderfully complex taste, with burnt caramel, cofe and dark malt, with Czech hops and burnt caramel lingering on in aftertaste.

On tap at the brewpub. Dark brown, good slightly off white head. After those last three, being hit by this one’s aroma - full caramel, cocoa, good malty presence... it was a revelation, and a glimmer of hope that I’d found a beer that I’ll actually like quite a bit. Nope, Chuck Testa. Again, the taste proved to be nearly as subdued as the others, yeah, there will be some more notes of caramel/dark malts, if barely, but it’s lean and, again, made for mass consumption really. The best of the bunch, no doubt about that. I just wished they would’ve been more adventuresome. But hey, if beers being like that helps them stay afloat (hur hur since it’s in a marina hur hur) for some reason - why not.
